    <!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Reports indicate that id is developing Rage with a "T-for-Teen" rating in mind,[5] and that the Windows, Mac and Xbox 360 versions will ship on either two or three dual-layer DVD discs, while the PS3 version will ship on one Blu-ray disc.[5] John Carmack has revealed that an uncompressed software build of Rage is one terabyte in size.[10] While a Linux version is speculated there has been no conformation of an official build.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    It's pretty much what everyone thought borderlands would be. So yeah, definite buy.

    Wait what?

    That's the same size as my HDD.

    Surely that must be totally unoptimised, it has to be less than that if they want to release it for PC.

    I hope by 'uncompressed' it doesn't mean 'will unpack from the discs to fill this much'.

    Although knowing carmack that could well be what it means, Id makes awesome stuff but they do tend to do some odd things now and then.

    What was borderlands supposed to be?

    Don't think I had any prior notion before I bought it.

    Well, compare uncompressed audio and video to .ogg or .png...

    No. The install is not going to be anywhere close to one terabyte. 20 gigabytes? 30 gigabytes? Could happen. 1024 gigabytes? No. Not at all.

    maybe they'll ship the game with an extra hard drive to install it on?

    nah, that's silly, only the collectors edition would get that

    I'd pay for that. If the game wasn't any good I'd just delete it and fill the Hard Drive with more porn.

    There are guns, and you use them against other people, who may or may not have guns.

    The biggest problem with Borderlands for me was that I felt like it was trying to keep me from seeing awesome stuff beyond the horizon, by showing awesome scenery beyond this invisible barrier. It felt like there was more beyond the horizon, but you can't actually get there... Add to this the fact that at a certain part in the game, it is more of the same and becomes very predictable. And the annoying single sentence voice people in town, ugh...

    Compare this to for example the World of Warcraft, which doesn't feel like it is trying to contain you within it's boundaries. Sure the do indeed do this, but it just doesn't feel like it. Perhaps because they do not show you stuff, which "could" be reached, so you don't get that feeling of the game designer going "Look nice doesn't it, guess what... YOU CANEA GO THERE!!!"

    For example around the first town, you get to a cliff and see a huge desert area. But you can't actually get there...

    It's really basically the same game. Except I think this shows what I think of borderlands and what I hope Rage will be:

    Borderlands = Train On Rails
    Rage = Wild Mustang

    That is what I was looking for. Good description of the feeling I got from Borderlands

    So Borderlands is a massive powerhouse capable of pulling enormous amounts of goods at high efficiency, while Rage is an overhyped hotrod for spoiled rich people looking for a penis substitute?

    No, they're videogames.

    Soo, rage is supposed to be like borderlands except with more stuff?

    I guess that would be good, although I never really felt at all confined in borderlands, I was actually surprised at how big it was, and the grindyness doesn't bother me because it's a pretty good shooter, no more grindy than playing unreal tournament really.
