    It looks like... well.

Kinda Sim Store, but running a loot store in a JRPG world, except you can also adventure to find stuff as well.

Dunno. I don't have monies so people will have to plead with me to get any game.

It's pretty fun. The shop is a bit simplistic, but I'm still at level 1... Adventuring is good times, and you get more ways to do it as you go along.

    Oh dear Harvest Moon style.

You don't really adventure in Harvest Moon though? I meant like you get adventurers that can use bows or magic, rather than the starter guy who just swings a sword.

    Also, important tricks:
killing monsters of one type without killing any of another type increases chain combo, which increases xp and possibly drop rates
selling stuff at okay prices so customers don't feel the need to haggle, like 120-125%, is a great way to raise xp faster in the beginning ,as you get JUST COMBO bonuses (also sales = profits)

There is a demo. Just click the Demo register in steam. It's one of the top demos right now. Just so you know: demo demo demo demo demo. I feel like I missed something. Did I mention there is a demo?

It's pretty cool actualy. The graphic looks like you could play that on a PSP without probs, but the gameplay is really fun.

The dungeon parts are actually really tough. You should always pack apples, oranges or walnut bread as you HP gets eaten really fast. Remember that you can only take 1 item with you, if you die, but 20 if you survive. So the cost of 3-5 HP items is well worth it.

You should also run the first dungeon a couple of times, before moving on. It's also a good idea to pile up a wide variety of items, so don't just put everything you have in your inv on the displays and think you're fine. Have some stuff in the back as they say.

Also, try not to sell the good weapons right away. Your adventure buddies will come in and ask for weapons, this is the chance to sell the good stuff to them, so you don't have to provide the good arms and armor to them in the field.

    Demo.

One more thing: Age makes a difference. The little girls won't have much money, so only sell them cheap stuff and only for around 115%-120%. The older they get, the more you can ask. The old guys take stuff for as much as 140%.

My god... in the first 20 minutes of this game I think I only had 2 minutes of game time.

So many freaking (ridiculously slow paced) cutscenes.

Thats true. You can skip all of them tho. So once you understand everything this goes real fast.

    Important facts, part deux:
the various types of customers have different budgets, little girls and adventurers are poor as hell (randomly varies each game)
you can't sell fancy expensive stuff if your store is too plain, buy wallpapers and such at the Market when you're at a high enough level

Hmm. Managed to settle my first payment by Day 5, with a little luck and a few run-throughs to get used to dungeon-diving. Which gets absolutely ABUSIVE later on.. groups of enemies doing 20hp per touch, that ricochet you back and forth and effectively instakill you. The beefier weapons aren't as useful as armor, in that regard, but of course the armor is far more expensive.

Then again, 'loaning' your warrior a sword and helmet seems to lead him to come in and request a weapon the next day, and he'll take the highest-end sword you've got.. usually at right around 120% for a tidy profit. Especially if you found it in the dungeon.

Think I'll be picking up a copy, once I make it to the end of the demo, instead of restarting constantly to try out different ways to make money most effectively.

just finished the demo, it's a blast. debating buying the full game when it's out.

Pretty easy to save-scum, and I feel guilty doing it, but I hate when I don't spend a time block to its fullest potential...

I like how I buy all sorts of crap from the merchants' guild and then the guildmaster comes into my store and buys his crap back at inflated prices.
  • FehaFeha Join Date: 2006-11-16 Member: 58633Members
Very nice game, I lost the 2 first times though, mostly cause I couldnt figure out how to exit dungeon, and stopped advance to look for an exit (meaning I had to battle respawning enemys). That and cause I was bad at selling :P.

I might buy the full game, not sure yet, played the demo four times, won 2 of them, XD.

I hate those little girls though... they wont even buy for 120%... And they almost always go for the cheapest item in the store.
  • DiscoZombieDiscoZombie Join Date: 2003-08-05 Member: 18951Members
yeah, my strategy is to generally first try to sell something for about 137%, which of course everyone refuses, but then when you drop it down to 129% or so they'll usually take it because it's such a big drop from your first offer. I also try to only stock expensive things so I don't waste precious time to make just a few bucks. but yeah, if I ever have a real bad sales session I just reload (and then feel guilty)
  • AlignAlign Remain Calm Join Date: 2002-11-02 Member: 5216Forum Moderators, Constellation
I think starting high lets you get a higher final sale, but then you miss out on the exponential XP growth. But then, if you go too low they'll get used to low prices and start expecting lower...

You can use the save from the demo in the final.

As a general strategie I put all the "good" stuff out, so things that go for 1000+ and keep all the "crap" behind the counter. So if someone comes in and asks for something, you can still sell it to them.

Also, the percentage doesn't mean anything. Little girls only have so much money to spend. If you try to sell them a 2000 gold item for 100%, they won't buy it. But if you sell them a 200 gold item for 130% they probably will.
  • AlignAlign Remain Calm Join Date: 2002-11-02 Member: 5216Forum Moderators, Constellation
Depends on if they ask for a specific item or ask you to name one, I believe. If they're after a specific one, they'll always have enough to buy it, but if a little girl asks for a Food item and you try to sell her a Beef Bowl or whatever for 2500 pix... yeah.

I couldnt sell any of my 5k items even if i went from 150% to 125%, think i may have tried it nearer to 120% but the demo ended by then ;p this is even against people like the younger man and the guild master who are usually loaded D:

this game is evil, :< it has the menu layout that reminds me of tetramaster online... which i may have to resubscribe too now :'(

how is xp determined? I would assume that the better a deal you get, the more xp you get, but is that not so?

I think you get 10 basic XP per sale. And an additional 5 if they take your first offer. There are also boni for combo sales.

E.g. if you sell twice in a row with the first offer being accepted you get 15 and 17 XP.

    XP for various modifiers:
    10 for any sale
+15 for selling at about the price they wanted (NearPin)
+30 for selling at (almost?) exactly the price they wanted (Just Bonus)
+2,4,8...128 for selling instantly, without haggling (Just Combo, don't confuse with the above)

So as you can see, Tear gives really bad advice when she says to haggle for a high price. The money isn't worth it, and on top of the XP you improve relationships with your customers if you manage to get NearPin or Just Bonus - eventually you'll see a <3 when you sell to someone at a good price, which means their relationship level has gone up and they will be able to buy more expensive things from you.
You can also sell stuff with +modifiers to improve relationship level.

How expensive stuff customers are willing to buy is also affected by the store atmosphere (ask Tear), which you can change with wallpapers and stuff, which in turn you can only do at a high enough level...
