One of the progress things before it cleared was an Option to turn off Shadows rendered by Props/models.
Using that and r_shadows false
That is a pretty damn big FPS boost using those 2 settings because shadows are one of the biggest fps ######s, especially dynamic shadows.

Max have you thought of making a "NS2 Official Test Server" or similar where you can gather some performance statistics?
I am sure there are a number of us that would join the official server to play a few games so you can gather stats.
Obviously that would mean giving us the updated files and you would probably need to add some performance gathering functions in the "Test" server build.
I just have the feeling you guys are testing the server in ways that are different i.e. LAN or at least everyone in the same state/province so that internet latency is minimal. I could be wrong though.
I mean I see you are adding bots, I am not sure if this is an attempt to check network code or not.
This could be an opportunity to add some console messages for chat etc and console logging similar to SRCDS which should be included long-term anyway. That way you can see if people are complaining about lag if one of the UWE staff are not in-game.
