<div class="IPBDescription">seen it?</div>I recently watched the entire series streaming on netflix, anybody else seen it? Makes me wish I had more teachers like him back in my science classes in school.

It essentially talks about how the universe was created, and how we're all the result of star stuff that has evolved to conciousness and is trying to understand itself through science. Pretty deep stuff but interesting and explained in normal english.

Most of the stuff is pretty outdated tho, so only watch it for his awesome style of teaching and his calming voice. ^^

I still read parts of the book every now and then.
A lot of it is still surprisingly relevant, and Sagan makes some pretty astute predictions. If anyone is looking to watch it, there's also an updated version, where an older Sagan discusses what he got right and wrong.
Oh, and in case you haven't seen this ode to Cosmos:

I can see why his way of storytelling reached the common man. Not only does he explain about how the universe works, but he brings a sense of perspective to it all, and includes a lot of fascinating stories behind the discoveries, about pioneering individuals, early and contemporary technology and about societies past and present and their relationship with astronomy.
Ooh I didn't know about the updated version - I'll have to check that out.
For anyone who ever wondered about my name, Carl Sagan actually does a good explanation of what a tesseract is. Well worth watching if you ask a particularly biased community member. >_>
