Unplayable frame rate

I've tried creating a game just to test out how it runs, and when it does play it's at 30 fps and extremely choppy, but every other second it will drop to about 5 and it's basically just unplayable. Oddly enough I can play Mass Effect 2 maxed out at 60fps constant. (vsync) although I don't have vsync on for this.
My system:
e8400 oc'd 3.8
4 gigs ram
9800 gx2 oc'd
I don't know if the game is unreasonably demanding or if there is something wrong with the coding or compatibility but some feedback or suggestions would be nice, thanks :)

But yes, I'm also having the same issues.

The alpha is presently in heavy debug mode, if you check the console you can see a fraction of some of that stuff going on. Some of the dedicated server operators have discovered that there is a ton of redundant debug/message data being sent around on the networking side of things, so consider that the performance you are seeing right now is nothing like what you'll see when the remove all of that stuff and optimize it. :)
thats not a fanboy reply, it's the truth. But by saying that I don't mean you shouldn't have made that thread.
If a game is in alpha or beta stage it's like Viper_two_nine_A said nowhere near optimized. In addition to that most games in this early stage of development run in debug mode. Debugging is a process for developers to find bugs while the program/game is running and you probably can already guess by this explanation that this needs way more performance than if the program/game wouldn't run in debug mode.
You can be 99,99% sure that the performance will increase during the alpha and later during the beta test phase.
Edit: btw. I totally missed Mr. Epics reply, so yeah it's definitely running in debug mode.
