<div class="IPBDescription">On a Mac running Win7 x64</div>Hi I have got an iMac core i7. I use bootcamp with Win7 x64.Â
My Mac run easily Battlefield Bad Company 2 in Full HD. But with NS2 I have to put the resolution at 720p and medium graph to have something a little fluid. I don't really understand why. Would you help me please?

Quoted for truth, /closetopic tbh
You don't understand why you're getting poor performance in the first release of an <b>alpha</b> version of the game?
Really?

<b>Really?</b>
Haha I feel for you.
my rig is average, Q6600 with a radeon 4870 DDR5 or w/e
I get a solid 10-15 fps.. :P
Found your problem. Macs set of standardized hardware is lower than PC's. i7 is new to iMacs and graphics hardware as well. Not to mention bootcamp'ing uses unoptimized drivers since it isn't the primary function for macs.
Also the fact it's an ALPHA. All of those issues combined, it isn't going to be a great gaming experience.
On a side note: J'ai une tour d'Eiffel dans mon pantalon :3
Well, THERE'S your problem
I have a mediocre PC, q9400, gtx260, 4gb ram. Get perfect FPS. The main complaints I have are that the graphics look a little dodgy and I can't seem to apply much anti-aliasing to the game.

To be honest that's not really a mediorce PC.
Your PC is miles ahead of MANY people i know that are trying to play this and will get SC2 tomorrow.
Mind you, quadcore 4gb, 260gtx 8-20fps with only me on the server pretty much renders me useless testing anything.

Yes but those people have PC's from the mid 90's, they're not PC gamers, they don't count. John Carmack would be ashamed that PC's like those still exist.
My rig is VERY mediocre in terms of current gen technology, hoping to upgrade to a GTX 470 soon.

How are you getting perfect FPS then? I have nearly an identical rig. I did host a server, it was just me on it. I went tskulk to test out the movement but I get 8-20FPS. Pretty much impossible to do anything. I get 150+ CSS and UT3, even an Alpha shouldn't be this laggy on my rig. 1920x1200 res.
r_mode albedo
It's upped my fps from ~5 to ~20 :D

Yes, there's always at least one that replies as thus in every support thread where a game is run in windows on a mac.
But no. It has nothing to do with his machine. He even gives you an example of a very demanding game running in full HD at good speed.
Boot Camp has no unoptimized drivers (and if the drivers are still not to the user's liking, it is always possible to install others). And macs' "set of standardized hardware" does not produce sub-par gaming performance. I know this for a fact, since I've empirical knowledge that supports my claim.
I've run extensive tests on several macs and PCs with as similar hardware as possible (down to them using the same graphics cards, etc), and found that there is virtually NO difference in performance (and nor should there be) of graphical operations in Windows, between a mac and PC using the same/very similar hardware. Games were tested in particular, and the results were the same for both AAA titles (with enough funding to optimize the game to account for any possible differences in mac and PC Windows drivers), and indie games (with no funding to perform aforementioned optimization, thus suggesting that it is not needed).
My own computer, a first-gen MacBook Pro that is truly starting to show its age, outperforms similar PC counterparts in the gaming department, recently achieving 10-15 additional fps in Oblivion when compared to a tweaked old Alienware laptop.
In this case, "alpha" is all that was needed to answer the OP's question.
I'm also wondering how.
I have 90+ on COD 4/WaW ect.
I understand this is an alpha.. but Optimization needs to be done asap.. because it's hard to test a product when it runs very badly on a decent computer.
and no my rig is not from the 90s.
Still, there's way more stuff than the engine test, and I think the performance is a step up from the Engine Test (no more infinite bullet loop bug yet!). But no, it is not ready for 60+fps on my 8800GT AMD Dual Core 2GB RAM system.
Have you defragged your drive / updated drivers / run CC cleaner etc lately?

So, I have to wait for an up date.
