Looking for some hosting

for a simple, but expandable website
So I'm looking at making a website, starting off with a public and private blog, and a simple portfolio site (no flash).

I'm looking for some hosting recommendations, but I have no idea how much space I'll need.

Ideally to begin with I'm looking for hosting that can handle:

2x Wordpress-style blogs

Simple portfolio site with just a few small images

Looking forward, I'd like to be able to expand the site to handle:

A couple of other sites with more media content

Forums for around 30 people initially, perhaps expanding to several thousand users per day eventually

Several SVN repositories, the biggest handling up to 30 users for fileserving up to 7GB (but probably under 3GB) per full update

Perhaps an NS2 server, either included or as a separate package

So does anyone know of any good hosting that pings well to Europe (UK), where I can start off with a small package and then expand to something more meaty, and is reasonably priced?

    I love these guys: http://www.dreamhost.com/

The best I've been with by far. Not sure of your UK requirements, though. You can go do shared hosting to start, then do a "virtual dedicated" thing if you want, or straight to a dedicated box. They give you plenty of bandwidth and storage and don't whine if you blow your margin once in a blue moon.

I have used dreamhost once before, no complains but they seem to have upped there prices a bit since then, you could probably find a better value somewhere else with the same level of service.

The last time there was a discussion on this around these parts, I believe these 3 hosts were the main ones people liked:

    http://www.servage.net/
    http://www.hostgator.com/
    http://www.dreamhost.com/

I doubt any would host NS2 servers as that is a totally different kind of hosting, but they should do the other stuff. Double check though, since I am not sure on things like SVN. These are all likely US as well so make sure to ping them :)

Anyone that does a VPS will basically give you root and pretty much let you install what you want. Typically you get web hosting with some kind of control panel for around €10 and a vps usually costs 50% extra.
