ty. I was really curious what the gameplay would actually look like. This looks great, and much better than what was shown on stage. It actually makes sense how they could score this and how players could actually manage to keep up.

It looks like fun, and I wouldn't be too embarrassed to play this in the privacy of my own living room. :)

I mean it looks so god damn epic. The trailer is just SWEET.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Unless there's a new trailer I take it you're referring to the old one, which is entirely prerendered. [Edit: There's a new trailer. Which is ALSO prerendered.] Oh it's a very pretty little thing, but it tells you nothing at all about the game, and don't let them tell you otherwise.

And have you watched gameplay videos? The movies showed us lightsaber combat that was acrobatic and deadly. No such thing as shrugging off a hit: A lightsaber slices you, it slices something OFF. Something you'll miss dearly, like half your torso. Or, if you're lucky, just a hand - which you were holding your weapon with, oops.
By contrast, lightsaber combat in this game is disappointing. Two dudes stand face to face, their feet all but bolted to the ground, slapping at each other with what appears to be glowing pool noodles rather than infinitely sharp laser space swords. The lightsaber hits you for 5 damage. You have 195 hp remaining. The lightsaber CRITICALLY HITS you for 8 damage. You have 187 hp remaining.

Say what you will about other parts of the game, but the lightsaber combat is generic fantasy MMO swordplay with magical space knights crudely glued over the orcs and elves.

Mandalorians (?) being able to just shoulder barge armed sith out of the way made me cringe. Either that guy is the single most badass soldier in the history of the universe, or the sith's recruitment policy is "give that idiot a saber and throw him at the enemy". Either scenario bodes ill for an MMO.

Also it bugs me that the mandalorian armour is identical to clone troopers. I know there was some line about Jango Fett helping design their equipment and based it all on old mandalorian stuff but come onnnnnnnnn. What you've got is clone troopers fighting droids.

Just set the damn game in the prequel trilogy if you want it that bad. Jesus.

    Np :3

Keep in mind that's NOT the one they showed on the stage. The one demonstrated on stage was Dance Central. The one I linked there is Dance Masters :p
Dance Central focusses more on your standard western dancing and music while Dance masters looks to be more japanese para para style stuff (hence Night on Fire being the second song in the vid :3 )

You mean making a fool of your self? Yes.

However if you watch the videos you can see that the mechanics are different.

I don't really consider this to be making a fool of yourself. I actually think it will make people look less fooolish than DDR. I see it as sort of a training game rather than just a fun game. At first you might look like a fool, but that's the same as if you're learning to dance anyways, and there is no way around it.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if those were just different modes and if they both had both mechanics, or what.

Man though... I am ridiculously excited for all the Ninty stuff... The 3DS... new zelda... old zelda... man.

im horribly dissappointed in e3 this year (well probably since 2006 one) everything is just a crappy gimmick, and nothing seems to work properly.

the motion controls are terrible, there are serious delays on the 360, and the ps3 since its a camera. and the wii - LOL you can wag that thing how you like, but its gonna do whatever it wants.

I think it was mentioned, but the new Wii stuff was fine in all the playable demos, it just suffered from interference due to the 500 reporters with wifi devices in the room or something.

That excuse was actually just a joke (a jab at Steve Jobs). The controller uses IR to detect where the controller is pointed, and I believe Miyamato was talking after about how there was a ton of IR interference up there.
The hands-on demos say that Skyward Sword worked perfectly on the show floor.

If you're referring to the actual press conference demo, since a lot of it was canned the motions on screen were occurring before the player actually did anything.

IR is only used for the WiiMote to detect where it is pointing (the 'sensor' bar is simply 2 IR Leds), the WiiMote then broadcasts that data, as well as buttons presses and waggles (the movement is an internal motion sensor to the wiimote) to the Wii via Bluetooth, which could very well be screwed with due to a plethora of RF signals.

The pointing interference is generally not that big of a problem for the WiiMote, as it will generally only be strong enough to interfere if it is shining directly on the sensor bar (a la sunlight coming in through a window), that would also only make the pointing iffy, instead of the motions.

Admittedly, I don't know how well BT handles RF interference, iirc it is supposed to be one strong suit of BT.

    Edit:
Quick check with a friend who used to do work with BT says that it is possible that the large number of 2.4GHz devices there could mess up any BT device (that includes wiimotes and other BT controllers)

Heh, yup. I wasn't sure if wifi can actually interfere with bluetooth which is why I didn't mention that side... but did Miyamato say that it was IR interference, not wifi interference, in an interview. The translator during the demo was just copying what Steve Jobs said at the iphone 4 demo.
