Altitude

Free weekend, one day left
Steam page
So in short, it's a 2D airplane action game with intense dogfighting and a bunch of different gamemodes; like the boring ol' (team-)deathmatch, Plane Ball (like football, but with planes, zomg!) and Demolition (where the goal is to drop a bigass bomb on the enemy base).
There are different planes with different weapons, abilities, stats and perks. You start with a single plane at your disposal, but as you play games and get more experience points, you get access to better stuff. Yeah, that annoying system that gives advantage to players who have played more before you. Not that the more "advanced" planes are clearly superior to the early ones in every way and the grinding doesn't take long at least for the first two plane unlocks (the first one comes after playing some tutorials).
But it's still definitely worth trying, and I'm considering maybe buying it since it is also 50% off this weekend.

I cant explain in words how fun it is to charge a bolt and volley it on a wall, past an obstacle, onto the enemy plane which hold the ball/bomb and is just about to win. Or when you shoot into a group of enemys and it bounce around killing almost everyone. Or when you are tailed, use rmb to do an instant 180 and fire, aswell as going trough enemy plane so he cant fire at you(while all you have to do is do a 180 again to start tailing him).
If you looks for planes capable of getting kills, the loopy is a no-skill plane (missiles are homing, so its almost like using flashbangs in any fps) which can give you alot, the biplane is probably the best (fast and with a shortranged attack capable of killing anything sithing a second or two), and the 2 heavy plane can get alot of kills without even having to get close, very good tactic wise (block of a whole area), or just simply killing a big cluster of enemys within a few shoots.
I dont think I will buy altitude though, sure it was fun, but not fun enough (got alot to do irl).
But yeah, the most fun is when you just excell with your skills, like I have sucesfully volleyd bullets precisely beneath enemy just as he round corner, but not to hit him no, I try to hit an obstacle at same height as obstacle he rounded, which then bounce my bolt back and above the corner hitting enemy.
My best moment was probably when I were getting 2 enemys at me, they went trough an obstacles tunnel (curved), I shoot into it, volley 90 degrees down, hit enemy, volley onto other enemy killing it (was partly damaged), and volley back on first enemy so it dies. All without me losing a single hp as there was half a mountain between us XD.
(Yes I know its subjective, but if you ask me, while dropping a mine straight into 3 enemies face blowing up 2 and sending the third crashing into ground might be hilarious, I would not say that it is more fun then to use tactics and skill to really own the enemy, proving how much superior you are)
I haven't played much with the 'big planes', but today I unlocked the Explodet with the different missile that "causes a torquing effect on enemy planes by pulling the nose of their plane inward towards the explosion center." It seems to be pretty awesome in tight quarters.
This game was the best use of ~5€ in a long time. It's about 9€ now and I still recommend everyone buy this game :P
It is! I recommend trying the Explodet, you might like it. It's ###### on very open maps, but performs beautifully on more cluttered maps. For your green module I recommend self-repair: The Explodet is poor at escaping unharmed, but great at escaping alive and dissuading pursuit. Self-repair will get you back in the fight quicker (or save you from being an easy target).
Just remember to bring patience: The Explodet takes a little getting used to. It's painfully slow, the turnrate is sluggish, the plane is easy to stall and hard to recover, and it's easy to stall yourself with the blast from your main weapon. But it's buff and it can turn the playing field into a nightmarish hazard course for the enemy.
And if you can get people like Feha to exclaim how superior their Miranda is as you blow it out of the sky, so much the better. :P
I have to agree that explodet is better if it would be a 1 vs 1 fight, as all it would have to do is fire at rocket at you, get a single hit, and you are dead (well somewhat like that), while miranda needs about 3-4 charged bolt hits.
Explodet is probably also the best plane there is when it comes to assistance. You can lock out the area around nuke with your mines, or lay a mine at end of corridor where a friend stalks an enemy, and due to being explosive, it isnt much harder to kill many ships then just one (if they fire at a friend and not you). When you have the ball its also great to have one behind you both due to its meatshield capabilities and the mines taking care of those who follow.
It just takes less skill (mines partly homing, every bullet is explosive, lots of hp) :P.
THEY MADE JETPACKS
edit: played the demo, and it does bring me back to my SubSpace days. Good times.

Lies.
(For Feha: Stickman = X_Stickman, a regular here)
Ta-da!
And yeah, it does play a lot like subspace/continuum, depending on where you spent your time in Subspace. I spent most of my time on Extreme Games, so that's kinda similar. One of the Altitude game modes is like a football game, though, and that plays almost identically to the old Hockey Zone server, so that's all kinds of fun and is probably my favourite mode.
I actually tried to do that "fly backwards and fling a bomb at a target" thing that I did in the warbird in Subspace, and crashed like a fool. Think I'm used to it now though.
I cant believe I wont spend to much time on it, when I got other games to play and stuff to do.
Bump, now it's only about 3€ :T
