Marines Ammo Clip Capacity Upgrade

<div class="IPBDescription">Ability to upgrade clip capacity from 30</div>Hey guys and girls, just a thought I had after playing the engine test.

I noticed the gun now has a lower capacity at 30 rounds instead of 50.

What are your thoughts and opinions on the ability to upgrade the clip capacity for the marines light machine gun?

The commander could have the option to upgrade clip capacity from say 30 to 40, then to 50.

One of the things I love about NS1 is that each commander plays the game differently, each commander uses the upgrades in a different order which has a huge effect on how you go about taking out the aliens.


I had a browse for anybody els with the same idea, but could not find one, so let me know what you think :)

    You can change this very easy. Just open rifle.lua and in two spots you will see the max ammo set to 30... just change that to 99 and have fun.

    Btw i like 30. It implies less SPRAYING because each bullet will be MORE POWERFUL... just like a real rifle.

    But we know the rifle has a capacity of 30 rounds as seen on it's HUD.

    Im not asking about how to change the clip capacity, im wondering if you guys think it is a good idea to have the ability to upgrade the clip capacity.

    And MuYeah, of course its not the final code, which is why I am suggesting the start of 30, and ability to upgrade.

    Ok now i see what your asking. Yes i think it's a good idea. If we look at NS1... we had the damage and armor upgrades. These are upgrades that "stick" with you when you die and respawn (ignoring when an alien takes out the only arms lab). This frees up the com from not having to drop "special" guns.

That's why this weapon is much larger and bulkier then the NS1 LMG, because it's more like a basic all around assualt rifle.

    Therefore it makes sense that the com can just do an upgrade and instantly have people respawning with 99 round magazines. Do another upgrade, and the same weapon now has increased damaged. Do another and you got a grenade launcher (unless they made it so you had to "buy" the grenade launcher at the armory?). This also means the devs don't need to work hard to produce many weapon-model variations that only contain slight differences in capabilities.
