This is the easiest way to connect. was having issues connecting through regular IPs. Theres about 12 of us on that network atm.

Note: you have to use the hamachi IP for the person who is hosting the server...

Just write in the Network Chat, and ask if someone have hosted an Game.
If someone does, just type in the consol "connect 5.xx.xxx.xx" (xx = his Hamachi IP)

I am a little confused. There are 2 branches on the git hub, which one is the one the server is using.

I really don't get why people use hamachi. Unless Max wrote an entire TCP/IP stack for the Spark engine, an IP is an IP - using a virtual LAN just adds unnecessary overhead.

Lets try http://www.tunngle.net/en/ for the ones that hamachi is not working

I think because it's easier to announce to everyone when someone is putting up a new server :)

hamachi is used because some people are behind firewalls and cannot access it to change the settings. ie in a college campus, at work, someone elses internet.
plus sometimes internet providers just block it.
and if you are looking for a server if i am on hamachi i will usually have one running name is nade on hamachi.
will be running one tonight.

In this case it makes sense now that I see it uses a persistent central connection to avoid NAT issues.
• BJHBnade_spammerBJHBnade_spammer Join Date: 2005-02-25 Member: 42431Members
thats what a vpn tunnel is a direct connection between 2 points hamachi is just a nice tool to control that stuff and makes setup alot easier.
• Renegade.Renegade. Join Date: 2003-01-15 Member: 12313Members, Constellation
But it's not direct, that's why it didn't make sense at first, it's tunneled centrally through hamachi servers. And in order to keep the tunnels active in your NAT you need to maintain a persistent connection to those servers.
