Same map, different atmosphere

In most games, the map layout is always the same. Lets revolutionize the map layout and have different kinds of atmosphere be selected randomly for that round. Here are some in mind assuming there are windows that view outside of the ship.

Space - Dark with dim lights from the stars (compensated by the indoor ship lights). Occasional shadows from asteroids
Underwater - Light reflecting off of the water moving around everywhere inside of the ship. Occasional shadows from sea dwellers.
Underground/Mining facility - Light from magma glowing.

and etc.

This would add a bit of variety to the same old maps that are played over and over again and map makers can choose areas where and how that specific environment affects the lighting of an area of the ship.

Not a bad notion, xmaine - but I recall the original Natural Selection's maps as having distinct setting and small background stories. Location isn't quite so interchangable.

More subtly, I would enjoy the option of a few different external lighting conditions, such as mist versus sunlight on a planetary surface map, or deep space versus a nearby reflective moon.

What if aliens could destroy the environmental controls/life support system or the Marines could weld them? That could change the environment by user interaction.

I like this idea. Didn't NS1 also randomize the starting hive for the alien team? We could have maps aditionally starting out in a random state of ######-up-ness lol.
