Also this would be categorized in the "Death from above" category... Something UWE doesn't want ingame...

Kouji-san has a point, assuming death from above are things like say from mw chopper gunner, harrier pred missile.. those were horrible for gameplay honestly.

Similar, but "death from above" is something thrown into the mix by an unseen enemy which is the commander. Suddenly you are dead, due to a nuke in this case. It could of course have a delay, but then it would fall into the category of area denial weapon still thrown into the mix by an unseen enemy.

As far as I know UWE want counters to such things. For example the sentries/OC towers, siege tanks, SC towers and in NS2's case dynamic infestation are ingame objects the other team can attack. The commander or hive mind (what I like to call the alien commander) dropping in these things that pop in out of thin air are no good... A player shouldn't have to fight the map, they should be fighting players and their friendly buildings

First you would have to Tech to it. Then either it is a carryable object in a Marines invetory(only the Commander can purchase it, and there can only be 1 on the map at a time) or has a moveable platform like the M.A.S.C. The Nuke would have to be deployed under the Hive, and would have a countdown time of 2/3 minutes.

The Nuke would have the lowest HP of any structure in the game (think like the Observatory or Armory from NS1, maybe even lower).

The Nuke would be a biological discharge into the Hive only, and possibly any Eggs near it. Alive Kharaa would be unaffected, don't know if other structures should be affected.

Basically its a "Double Insurance" when assaulting/sieging(as in attacking) a Hive. Is it worth to Tech the Nuke, and forgo some other Late Tier Upgrades? That is the Commander's decision.

    From the Necro'd Nuke Thread.

TL;DR: Plantable(only under Hive) device with a countdown that may or may not damage anything else around it but the Hive(depends on balance). Either carryable or moved like the M.A.S.C. from the Turret Factory(it builds the M.A.S.C. now).

Also, only the Commander would have control of dropping it(even in the carryable version).

    *EDIT*

If we do not want it to be a "Doomsday Weapon", then you could model it after the Starcraft 2 Nuke, where it takes 2-4 of them to take down the "Main(Command Center/Nexus/Hive) Structure". This I could see working better, because it would allow the Commander(if he wants to spend the Resources) to doubly secure the Hive when Siegeing it. Kind of like a "Hive Insurance", but is able to be taken out.

So if a Hive has 1000 HP, then a Nuke does 333 HP worth of DMG.
