I like the pistol would've maybe enjoyed the Tazer better, but we don't need to start that discussion again !

Korvo stop trolling please or at least stop thinking in stereotypes that much (UWE is now the evil guys, because everyone who lives in America turns evil and Steam is evil also and Micheal Moore is always correct and doesn't manipulate his work ... :P yeah you wish !) I'm just annoyed with those people who think every American is evil for no reason and then just are happy with someone who wins a nobel peace prize for literally doing nothing (maybe trying to do, but not succeeding yet is counting now) but thats another thing ...

Congratulations to the Steam thing !

Hm---- but it looks like the grip is as thick as a candypop and where is the casing ejection?! Oo

To the last point: NS2 is going to use STEAM, that's why. Turn brain on.

No, you are making this up, I know because I sent in a photo of my CD-key on day one of Steam since it did not accept my CD-key. They took care of it and later told others to do the same, but there was never any payments involved, I would have remembered.

Most of the other types of DRM out there get cracked within days of a game's release, but if you incorporate Steamworks, you need a legit copy of the game to play with just about anyone. NS2 being multiplayer only reduces the appeal to pirates even more; they can't even pirate the game and just play single player.

Not entirely true... Pirates can play with eachother.

But they do get much less of a choice than legit players.

It's true that pirates can do that. But the numbers of people they can play with, as I said, are drastically lower than what they can get by buying the game legit. I mean how many people pirated TF2? Not enough for Valve to worry about, that's for sure.

If someone pirates NS2 and enjoys the game, sooner or later they're going to get fed up with there being very few servers for them to choose from, and they'll fork out the cash.

Plus. NS2 is 20 bucks. Compared to other new release games, which here in Australia typically cost $90 - $100, that's nothing. When weighed against all the advantages entailed in buying NS2 legit, $20 is more than worth it, and I believe most potential pirates will see it that way.

NS2 need an easter egg, a dead guy with the name tag Jiub, next to a lerk lair
(he is the reason why there aren't any cliff racers left in elder scrolls IV)

And enjoy playing on a server with 10,000 hackers. :D

The best thing anyone can do about piracy is, really, make it a burden. It's never going to go away fully, it can only be discouraged.

And on the other hand, even if pirates never buy the game and can play with us on the normal servers, it's still good for UWE because it will bring more exposure to NS (word-of-mouth), which can translate into more sales. I would rather sell 20 copies and have 100 pirates than 20 copies and 0 pirates.

Once it's officially on setup on steam with it's own storepage, you are able to transfer them by the "Add Game Key" option steam has. And yes, SE's transfer.

Ok, so they are trolling the tazer haters... I get it. But why did they have to go and make it so fricken ugly!

I bet on Fps banana that will be the first skin to get modified.

Amazing screenshot. Love those lerks. And the pistol looks fine too, I think.
Can't wait to get my hands on some kind of alpha, so you can run around your own levels. When that happens I'll start up that editor again.

Awesome! I'm sold... I could see this game selling in the millions of copies. Nice work, and keep those screen shots coming,

I don't really like the new pistol either. I could deal with it, but I don't like it.

My personal preference is that all pistols look like the Halo CE pistol: shiny, smooth, smallish, and mean. I don't like all this heat spreading, laser sight, flashlight, extended barrel, weaver rail, extended mag giant pistol crap. Make it look like a nice sidearm, not a deagle.

    [attachment=35922:halo_1_s...t_pistol.jpg]
    Perfect.

    That's just me though.

edit: I know ammo counters on guns is all exciting and immersive, but I've never used it and think its stupid. Keep it if other people like it, but I am really ambivalent about that sort of thing. Also: I don't mean to sound like a huge whiner, that screenshot is awesome and this game looks great. +points to UWE.

Right. There's already a large amount that needs to be on the NS hud such as minimap, upgrade waypoints, visual upgrades, the new waypoint GPS, motion tracking, i mean, it needs a sharp adjustment to be reduced to useful and smart.

Really looking forward to the alphatron so I can touch myself violently whilst playing my own levels on NS2. Reckon it'll be out in under a month?

Also bare happy that it's going to be on Steam too. I <3 Steam.

I don't remember where the post is, but the concept of creating an active way point system was all but confirmed. Then again, this was awhile back, but a dynamic way point system makes perfect sense. Believe me I'm hoping for this as much as you. :D

I have been keeping tabs on this game since the idea of ns2 when hl2 came out. I can say I am quite pleased to see progress and initiative to move forth and create this spectacular game!
Since this news I have pre-ordered the $40 pack and hope indeed that valves and your idea of "shortly" are not alike.

    Thanks!
