Impairing visuals

One thing I really loved about SW: Republic Commando was when you killed something up close you would get a blood splat on your helm. There were also other times you would get cracks in the visor or a disorienting blur effect from a concussion.

Maybe something like this could be used in NS2. Of course it would have to be used sparingly. It could happen when using melee, killing in close range, or when marines are hit in the face by a Kharaa ability like a spore or something. Then when the ooze is in your view it will gradually fade away or you play an animation of wiping your face with your arm.
You could even have the heavy armor's helmet take up some visual space for sake of aesthetics or a drawback to being heavily defended

lol it would be very bloody and hard to see as a skulk... so maybe not on melee attacks.
