King of the Hill Mode

<div class="IPBDescription">New game mode idea</div><b>Introduction:</b>
I've seen a few games with a king of the hill mode. This usually happens one of two ways: either there is a physical location that someone needs to hold or there's a free for all where the "king" is the primary target.

<b>Mode 1:</b>
There is a physical location on the map (the hill) that shows up on the HUD. This location extends out in a certain radius (probably something like 10-25 feet). It would be preferable if the hill had a glowing floor, extra lighting, or some physical object (imagine a futuristic boxing ring). Whoever is in the "hill" the longest becomes the king and gets time points per second.

<b>Mode 2:</b>
A player is randomly selected at the beginning of the round as the "king." The first player to kill the king becomes the new king. The king gets time points per second.

<b>Mode Similarities:</b>
Both modes will be a free for all. The game can be all aliens, all marines, or both. Players who are not the king can be killed by other players for points. However, the king will be worth double points as an incentive to get the objective. Also, the king will have a crown icon on top of his head (preferably 3D and not a sprite).

This might be similar to combat mode in that experience points (time points may be xp) give you upgrades, so that the game can progress and escalate.

<b>Note:</b> This opens opportunities for team King of the Hill. We're talking Aliens vs. Marines or mixed teams. There could potentially be more than two teams. Teams are marked with color icons in their body or different skins (hued colors).

    Where's the third mode though, with two teams struggling for control of the main objective or controlpoint. I like that one the most :P

    Gah, that's what you get from skimming trough a text. I read completely past "Aliens vs. Marines" and instead only read "mixed teams".

    I fear this would turn into a combat kinda game (which lacks depth imho), but I also see possibilities for classic mode. Setting up a base (turretfarm) on the hillpoint or an increased dyninfest grow speed for the aliens with an OC farm perhaps...

    The team controlling the point unlocks their teams in-map defenses, assisting them in holding the point. Which wouldn't all spawn at once of course, but could be fortified using welders/gorge healthspray, making this KOTH kinda like a survival game...

    The team not holding the point would get an increase spawn rate to assist them in the attack, while the team holding the point would get more resources for research perhaps. A timer like in the TF2 KOTH gametype would of course be a nice push to attack as well...



    The only problem with this idea would be sieges and bilebombs... Ah well...

    If I may use an analogy:

    Combat is to full NS mode as King of the Hill is to Combat.
