<div class="IPBDescription">Mantis Bug Tracker</div>Hey Team

There's been a lot of talk on these forums about important bugs being missed etc. like the black texture bug for example.

And I can certainly understand why some of them get missed given how messy threads can be or how poorly the search function works currently.

So my suggestion is why don't you (UWE) when you get the time for it set up a Mantis Bug Tracker account for the "Editor" and eventually for the Alpha etc.

<a href="http://www.mantisbt.org/" target="_blank">http://www.mantisbt.org/</a>

I've seen it used before with much success for mods etc.

So once this mantis account is created, you could have a link on the main site or in The forum sticky to a Bug repoting page. This page would detail how to report bugs on mantis and have a link to direct the user to the mantis login registration form for bug reporter accounts.

That way only the determined users of the editor and those that have valid bugs to report can and will take the time to register and report the bug(s) in a place where it is both easy for the developers to see and update these bugs but also for the users to be able to see what bugs are being worked at, have been squashed etc.

This page is an example of how the interface looks, bugs being posted, priority level and the color coding that shows their progress.

Just a thought, that way Max and Kurt will allways be on top of what needs to be addressed first.

That's my 2 cents.

NS used Mantis at some point. I'm quite confident that they'll pick it up if they see it necessary. No idea why it isn't in the use though.

It's quite probable that they already have a bug tracker, they just don't let the public submit bugs directly. I mean, think of how often you see duplicate threads on the forums because people don't use the search features. They probably have someone on the dev team reading through and submitting the bugs to the database.

We have Mantis setup, but right now the limiting factor on fixing editor bugs is just the amount of time we have available -- contrary to what people may think, only a small fraction of our programming resources is spent on the editor.

Thanks for the reply Max. And I certainly did not think otherwise about the work being done on the game contra editor. I know full well that you guys are pooring every drop of sweat, blood and midnight oil into this game :D

But if you do get the mantis setup working anytime soon for the editor and later on alpha, please don't hesitate to let us know ;) so we can contribute.
