Awesome...I assume i'm being too quick to expect for it to be updatable from the editor menu already? It's not doing it yet.

Oh, when you do these posts to discuss the patches could you put the patch notes in the post aswell please?

Video is removed by the user?

Anyhow, good to see the editor evolve. Keep it up, guys!

That selection filter is pure ownage :)

Dont' have time to start and test this, so my question is. For mirroring, is it possible to lock the textures? Kinda useless if you are only able to mirror some nicely textured and very complex wall element, only to see it still needs retexturing.

Also, I just love the way this thing keeps improving!

    <!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Added the mapping guidelines [...] documentation to the Launch Pad<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Have the mapping guidelines been released yet?
Cause the only PDF I can find in the whole editor folder is the editor manual.
However I can't open it through the Launch Pad, I'm just getting a "file not found".

Hell yeah, Selection Origin Cycle! I've always wanted that feature in map editors, gonna be a really useful tool to have. Cheers Max

Selection Origin Cycle doesn't appear to have had it's hotkey set. I had to manually set it.

Thank you very much! The selection origin cycle is just what I needed.
Been having a headache with my map being off the grid due to rotating it as a whole.
Thanks for the great tutorial also, helps in keeping up with the changes to the editor.
    Keep em coming! :)

Max, I discovered a bug in the light settings window. The color property does not match the color selected, it only displays the red component. Eg: 255/255/255 is displayed as 255/0/0.
  • KesterKester Join Date: 2004-02-21 Member: 26770Members, Constellation
I noticed that as well. It seems due to the update using ; to separate the values, whilst the dialog box only recognises , as a separator. Hence it only takes the first value, unless you separate with ,.

The only problem with that is, it doesn't work for the editor that way.

There seems to be trouble with the psapi.dll, when you try to install this new patch, probably related to windows 2k.
If you are familar with making win2k compatible with winxp-only applications, you can fix thix by using the enhanced psapi.dll for the editor.

Nice one ! Tho i don't understand the Selection Origin Cycle. does it just cycle through the edge corners or does it snaps the edges to your gird ?

I tried and it just cycle my edges maybe i am doing something wrong ?

it just cycles through your corners. this then allows you to snap them to the grid by using the move tool

Appears to be easier to browse around in texture lit mode, seems like I'm getting higher frame rate now.
  • KesterKester Join Date: 2004-02-21 Member: 26770Members, Constellation
Likewise. Although I'm still having slight frame rate issues in 3d view unlit with all 4 views are open; Is fine when 3D is maximised however.

Thanks for the documentation, pretty timely for some fun level-layout concepting over the weekend ;)
Gonna be really tough finding a tech/RT-layout out of that large list of examples though (they were all really nice, kudos!)

The links to the pdfs from the Launchpad don't work for me. I looked in the folder that the links were pointing to and the Mapping Guidelines pdf wasn't there at all and the Editor Manual pdf was spelt differently then in the link (it used an underscore in the actual file, whereas the link used a space).

It would be nice if we could add measurements to edges like in sketch up.

Excited to start mapping mappy maps with that tool.

Who narrated that video? Didn't sound like Max nor Charlie. Always give your name at the beginning.

That would be great! I would start using this tool for work rather than sketchup.

Nice, but I want to report a small bug.

Selection Origin Cycle (Previous) and Selection Origin Cycle (Next) shows up twice in the Key Bindings settings.

The texture for "generic_bench_01_grey model" looks pretty beaten up with pixel artefacts, I guess it's not supposed to look that way?

So there is supposed to be a mapping guidelines file?
Can you tell me where it should be, maybe I'm looking in the wrong folder.
It's definitely not in my editor directory or it's sub-directories. :(

Well, I just got it I guess?
I can find it in my folder and it works by clicking on the shortcut in the launcher.

    <a href="http://www.andrige.com/ns2/NS2-Mapping-Guidelines.pdf" target="_blank">Here's the file though if the issue doesn't resolve itself.</a>
Dunno if I'm supposed to rehost it but I'm guessing it's not a problem.

Thanks, guess the auto-updater didn't download it for some reason.
