Is This A Bug?

...or is it intentional?
I couldnt really decide where to dump this topic...since Tech Support seems to be orientated for actual problems with NS (err the hardware/software ones) ...and Suggestions and Ideas forum is only for ideas...so I decided to dump it here (maybe making a seperate Bug Forum will be handy? I dont know..)

Anyway..I was just wondering if it was truly intentional for the skulks to be able to succesfully parasite marine buildings..it seems like a bug to me...unless the parasites somehow survive off of the human nano-technology then there should be no way they can stick to the structure for infinite, letting the rest of the Kharaa know where all the vital marine buildings are located via hive sight..

Don't get me wrong..I love being able to parasite marine buildings..but...it just seems wrong...

    Hmm, quite unbalancing.

I'd like to know how that imbalances the game... Anyway, as far as backstories I've read go, it is something that sticks to the structure or marine. But don't forget that these aliens get energy off of heat and straight energy sources, then there's the bacterium which can help spread nutrients if need be.

And in last place, the developers are not looking to make another realism mod, where fun and realism are at odds, fun wins.

Wrong-o. Natural Selection is as balanced as such a game can be, so don't say such things.

CForrester, oh please. This game is far from balanced, still. Please don't be a fanboy.
As to how it unbalances, well, maybe because aliens can know where a major marine base or front camp is behind walls?

Every game I've played so far since the patch has been beautiful. People keep the teams even now and marines have as much of a chance to win as the aliens. The marines concentrate on raw firepower, the aliens on wit and the element of suprise in the beginning and raw power in the end. Don't give me your fanboy crap, the game IS balanced enough to keep me me and most of the people who play NS to be happy. It's not balancing's fault that some people can't get the hang of the Aliens enough to be sneaky and clever. I personally hope that the NS team waits for a month before any major patches (1.02 doesn't count) so that the crap will die down as people realize the game IS balanced and stop whining.

[EDIT:] They're SUPPOSED to know where the Marines and Marine bases are.

Its not unbalancing at all because the aliens would only see a parasited building on the hive sight if a skulk had already seen those same structures and parasited them. The only difference is that with parasite, another skulk can SEE 'oh, theres enemy structures over there' instead of being TOLD by the parasiting skulk 'hey guys, theres enemy structures over there'. Functionally theres no difference, its just a visual representation.

If you want to have any argument of parasite being unbalancing, you would have to go with the fact that you can parasite PEOPLE. Players MOVE meaning that you always know of the location of that marine, no matter where he goes. There IS a functional difference between saying 'hey guys, i saw a marine in processing' and parasiting that marine, so that you know he WAS in processing, but now hes moving towards your outpost. So absent, if you want to argue about balance, pick somethings that unbalancing first.

The first thing I do as I start a game as an alien is parasite the command center. It's the part of their base that will never move or be destroyed until the endgame. Great navigational aid.

There is no balance issue here. Move along.

my first life is always a parasiting frenzy, you can see the starting marine rez tower without being spotted yourself in almost every map so I always go for that first, then marines, then the cc.

So i take it this means its intentional? Good Thats all I wanted to know...

As for it being an unbalncing issue...I dont think it is...like everybody else has stated it sure saves a lot of time typing messages...and the marines have the ability to use their scanner sweep around strange areas..

But I only borught it up to ask if it was intentional or not...cause if it wasnt Flayra could get right on it and fix it...but by the sounds of it is intentional..so dont worry 'bout it

it IS balanced, otherwise explain this:

round 1 im alien, we win.
round 2 im marine, we win
round 3 im alien, we lost
round 4 im marine we win
round 5 im alien we win
round 6 im marine we lose

    SAME SERVER WITH SAME PEEPS.

of course, not every round were they on the same team.
