<div class="IPBDescription">Another PC Help thread!</div>Hey guys
I have 2 PC's (Vista 32 bit and Win 7 64 bit). If I share files from my Win7, I am able to access them on the Vista PC fine. When I switch the roles, it does not work. The error I am getting is: "You do not have permission to access \\computername. Contact your network administrator to request access."
Now the first thing to note is: This was working perfectly fine, but I changed the password on the account on the Vista PC and then the problem occured. Yes, I have tried changing it and removing it, but the problem will not go away now. This is not a sharing permissions problem since it was working totally fine. Just in case, I have triple checked all the sharing permissions and nothing is wrong there.
I found this topic which talks about a 'protection' tab, but I can't find it anywhere on my system: <a href="http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/GettingReadyforWindows7/thread/a42b7acb-1ecd-4ef3-8532-4ee89fecefa1" target="_blank">http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums...32-4ee89fecefa1</a>
My google-fu can't find any other solutions to this issue at all. It seems to be a little known bug with no fix sans the topic above which has not helped me at all :/ Any ideas?

I found the settings you mentioned, changed them, removed them and so forth but it did not help. This issue is not even letting me get to the authentication stage, it's blocking me with something before that.
Windows filesharing sucks, if you do not have a DC, thta manages authentication.
personally I would simply ignore the problem and setup 2 FTP servers on the machines :)

You probably checked it already, but make sure password protected sharing hasn't turned off magically or something:

The link you gave us also mentions checking out the settings under the Security tab:

There's nothing checked on this screenshot because I am not sharing anything on this computer for paranoia reasons (laptop), but I checked on the other Vista PC and everything is checked (the other PC is in French so screens from there wouldn't help that much I think). This "Security" tab is what blocked me from sharing with the other PC. Once I found out about it, it worked.
Hope that helps!
