A skill that is first discovered by accident, and then learnt by others via social networking isnt a cool feature, its a popular glitch.

I am VERY impressed by your work here sir, especially in a time where NS1 customization is completely dead.

Need someone to host this when you're done?

Needs more reddy/brown instead of grey.

However, very very spiffy NS1 customisation that I can only applaud.

    Also an Ns2 style onos.

Don't know if I can be bothered to texture it or not so all you get for now is the normal colours.

Not sure where to start with installing a custom model? 'Splain this a little bit more, there are plenty of people here more than willing to help!

    And Jamin, lookie here: http://www.scootrnova.net/features/ns/jamin_ns2_gorge.html

You asked for a host, is that acceptable for you? That link should be good for a long time, I can't imagine moving domains or dropping hosting anytime soon. And if there are some pictures I'll throw the Onos you made up there too!

This gorge model looks great ingame. I use it now and it looks ace with the fade because of similar colouring but an onos would really rock!

Anyhow, great job jamin. If it was possible, you would recieve +rep!

    Thanks for extra host Scoot.
And thanks for comments everyone else. (the more comments I get the more likely I am to texture/make more Ns2 style models... so shoot me.)

And would someone please post some ingame screenies! I wanna see what it looks like ingame because I'm currently unable to play (or even load up) NS.

The texture is what I meant.

I know how to extract the texture, open it and photoshop, and color on it and what not, but I'm not sure where to start with the actual texture itself. I've never done an actual "skin" before...

I'm probly not the best person to give advice on diffuse only texturing. (I'm not that good at it.)
But the way I do it now is to:
-start with a few basic colours and rough them out on the texture.
-draw some sketch lines on the texture so that I know where I want everything to go
-build up big light and dark forms using big brushes
-progressively use smaller and smaller brushes to build up shade and detail
-Use texture overlays to give the material some definition
-start adding details such as infestation and dirt in this case
-adjustments using contrast, levels and such until I like the look
-sharpen, because half life likes to blurr the crap out of textures.
    -done.

I'm sure there are a bunch of tutorials online.. Probs better looking at those than my workflow.

Anyway, I started texturing the onos cus I got bored. Head is pretty much done the body not so much.

I'll see if I can grab some screenshots tonight.

The Onos' teeth look a bit... pronounced? Maybe darken them a bit?

Anyhow, looking forward to seeing the finished beast!
