    I just hope you can not get more info to display on the hud than usualy available.
    we all know that nifty 'tools' <i>the mmo which never shall be mentioned</i> allowed first and later restricted to less... cheatlike proportions.
    now imagine that ... mods coupled with motiontracker or similar systems. nasty stuff.

    ::edit:: forgot to add "tools" to the sentence.

I don't particularly see how this changes whats good about the pistol now: fire as fast as you can and try to keep your aim on the target, if you ###### up and miss by a little bit you'll lose a lot of potential damage and probably not kill the target.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    To add more to this idea:

    <!--c1--><div class='codetop'>CODE</div><div class='codemain'><!--ec1-->(Rate of Fire 75% of NS1 Pistol, removing need for pistol script)

    [Time(s)]    [Consecutive Hit]    [Damage Inflicted]    [Total Damage Dealt]    [DPS]    [NS1Pistol DPS (Comparison)]

    0.125                1                     15                     15              120                  -80
    0.250                2                     20                     35              140                  -60
    0.375                3                     25                     60              160                  -40
    0.500                4                     25                     85              170                  -30
    0.625                5                     30                     115             184                  -16
    0.750                6                     30                     145             193                  -7
    0.875                7                     35                     180             205                  +5
    1.000                8                     40                     220             220                  +15
    1.125                9                     45                     265             236                  +36
    1.250                10                    50                     315             252                  +52<!--c2--></div><!--ec2-->

    Implement a hidden counter for each marine giving +1 consecutive hit for each bullet hit and -1 for each one missed, so say if you hit 4 shots your next bullet would deal 30 damage. If that bullet missed you would go back down to dealing 25 damage. Counter starts again on weapon change. Consecutive hits defined as within 0.25 of each other on any alien, giving incentive to take a little more time to aim your shots if you're not so good at aiming and something to improve on as you get better.

    (numbers to be refined)

    As you can see, very slight nerf against skulks and lerks (takes .125s more to kill a skulk on full hp, less instagib in nature) and more effective vs onos, fade and gorges. Also rewards more for higher skill and an interesting bonus metagame of chaining your consecutive hits onto different enemy players/classes. The biggest buffs would be against the slower moving targets of onos and gorge, giving gorges a good reason to time the damage soak ability. Pistol vs onos right now is completely useless and needed a buff anyway, so its win/win.

    Yeah, it doesn't make any logical sense in the real world but who cares? I'm sure something can be thought up.

    I use scripts because I want my game to play for me.

    Making the pistol less useless against lerks is the exact opposite of what you want to do. Also, hidden damage bonus is a terrible idea.

    When I read that combo stuff I was booting up my steam install of Street Fighter IV. SHURIUKEN!

    Incremental pistol damage is one of the worst legitimate suggestions I have ever heard.

    The cap on rof had hit me hard and made the pistol a burdon for me, as its the only ranged weapon that can not be discarded. I'd be better off fighting with the knife in its current (NS1) state.

    To be honest I thought it was a bug. You may dig up that thread somewhere around here.

    With all the moding available to ns2 i hope this wont happen again.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

    It really depends on how startled you are.

    Haha

    Oh and why are you guys so against the "R word"??

    If you are going to add recoil then you better make the guns on steroids or something!

    1) maby some form of re-coil that pushes the pistol a small amount to the side, just enough that if your going to snipe you have to watch your rof (the pistol returns to were it was before in about 0.5 seconds)
    so if your good you can snipe with it, but in a pickle you can still dish out the pain with no rate of fire caps

    2) Critz, tf2 style, the chance of getting a critz increases with the amount of damage dealt in the last few seconds but that doesn't mean you can or can't get a random 20 damage bonus.

    P.S. about my (pub only ) config
    jump = space
    scritps = coffee

    PPS
    The rcoil should (i thinks) be about 1:30
    one foot displacement over 30 feet range

    Your forum posts are unnecessary. Why have them? : P

    In all seriousness, please don't say statements like that. You just did the equivalent of using "YOUR MOM!" as a comeback. It makes you look like a douchébag and incites me to look like more of a forum nazi.

    When someone is faced with a logical argument to which there is no valid rebuttal, but is too proud to just concede the point, "your mom" lines are all that's left.

    Even though I don't agree with him there was a point to the question. Why have a video game? Well because it's fun and cool and stuff. So why then can't the same apply to whatever it was he was arguing? It wasn't a "your mom" line.

    Whoever posted the pic of Socrates wins. :)

    Please. No critical hits. Random damage is a no no nogo.
