yet another discussion
Basicly, that's what I want to see. Only from players on my side, obviously (adding ping as last coloumn):

Marinedata:
[Primary Weapon (icon)][Ammo in Weapon/Clips left][sidearm][in Weapon/Clips][Extras (icons)][Health][Armortype (icon)][armorvalue][resources][location]
Aliendata:
[class (should be icon)][upgrades (should be icon for each chamber)][health][armor][resources][location]
btw, the alien armoricon is a cropped shot from a Limulida.
Yes, it's a very bad mockup. But that's all I could come up with to visualize my Idea.
I know that it doesn't show K:D. I think the game doesn't benefit from those.
In my oppinion it does only show who's the greatest stat###### and doesn't say nil about usefullness as people with a high deathcount may be defending crucial locations harder than the guy only killstealing.
Maybe a damage done / received indicator would work, but never have seen one in any other game besides an "after round statsdump" on certain ns servers (neat little plugin...)

The ammo and armor stats are pretty much useless for anyone except the commander.
I mean, in theory you could check who's low on ammo or who needs welding, but in reality you don't have the time to constantly check the scoreboard.
And even then, you'd have to scan the list for the 1-3 relevant team members that are close to you.
Are not. This way you can tell where you would be needed most if you got a welder or where their attacks are concentrating.
and commanders are not important am I right??
Hell, Id' like to see health, armor, and ammo displayed floating around marines in the field.
I'd probably integrate a lot of the mentioned scoreboard functions to the UI otherwise. Squadmate armor values could be integrated to the marine hud maybe, commander could have them in the health rings. Ammo counts could be visible to comm when he selects a marine. Catpack effects are visible enough whenever you need to know about them.
As for the K:D, it has got pros and cons. It's a little ignorant to deny either side of the coin. Damage done/taken isn't going to work any better as it's all about the situation. K:D is a valuable info as long as you interpret it with some caution. For example a team with a few players fragging a lot requires different approach than a team where everyone gets some frags.
That's not what I meant at all, I just don't think the scoreboard would be the best place for that information.
Displaying the infos next to the marines like Bacillus described makes alot more sense.

Don't know. If you're in an adjecant sector to that poor sad you can come to his aid. or at least pick up what's left of him.
