Batman: Arkham Asylum
<div class="IPBDescription">Demo out</div><a href="http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/59887" target="_blank">Demo here</a>
Stealth game with silent takedowns etc, except now you're Batman, which makes it 3 times as interesting.
I think I'll buy this once it comes out on Steam.

BatCraft64? Did we go there yet?
I think I need to play the demo more. I liked what I played but I wasn't blown away like so many seem to. That said I had a good feeling about the game the first time I saw the trailer for it so I've had it on pre-order since forever; maybe I'm keeping my enthusiasm for when I get the full package? ;D

(keep watching it up to the end :3 )</div>
Then again I haven't played a demo in years, maybe I'm just not used to the shortness of them any more.
On the flip side, you got a feel of what combat was like. You got a feel of what sneaking was like, and you got a feel of a couple of different stealth combat things was like.

Also, that is why I said you should just hold off on playing the demo :P
but that is how I am, if I know I am getting a game or watching a movie I avoid all thing about it like the plague.
Just some random muscle mutant guy?

Dunno how short this one is, but I've played recent demos, so I can guess. There was a time when a demo would contain maybe an hour of gameplay, sometimes even two. But considering how short games are getting nowadays, that simply no longer happens.
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->Fantstic game- and I'm not a platform/3rd-person-view fan.
My ONLY concern is that 90% of the game (if the other 10% are boss fights) will follow the formula:
- Enter new room
- Bad guys on ground floor
- Jump up to gargoyles
- Swoop down on a lone badguy
- Ground takedown
- Go back to step 3
In the large room of the demo I was getting bored of doing this so swooped into 2 LMG-wielding badguys standing next to each other. I was hoping I could alternate attacks between the 2 to stop them shooting but the engine kept me magnatised to one bad guy so the other was free to shoot me down.
The melee combat is a lot more fluid than Star Wars: The Force Unleashed but not quite on par with Ninja Gaiden.
That said, the combat is still great- better than I thought it'd be for a licensed game, the art assets are amazing and it looks to have a good story.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->

But it all depends on the level design later on. And if the enemies will just shoot the ###### out of you, or stand in clumps so you can't take down one without the others noticing, etc...
BATMAN + FIGHTING = AWESOME
Increasing either of the two variables can only equal MORE awesome. But you can't have more Batman; there's only one Batman (at any given time). So the only option is to increase FIGHTING. Which is what they have done.
On a more serious note, I can see it following an annoying formula. Enter room, take everyone out by hiding and waiting for them one by one. Then a corridor or something that you have to sneak down. Then a boss fight which will probably play like a minigame or typical boss fight ("Dodge what he throws until he gets tired then run in and hit, repeat 3 times).
Then again, the fighting looks fun enough for it to not matter. I hope that later in the game they still include groups of unarmed enemies so you can occassionally get into a brawl rather than a sneak-takedown x10 routine.
"This time, I'll be entirely silent and take out all 5 of them within a minute." "Okay this time I'm going to be very noisy and scare the crap out of them." "I'm just going to throw batarangs at them for awhile." I am a sadistic Batman.
The PC version looks way better than PS3 but I just don't like playing it w/ a keyboard. Feels way too awkward.
It's a 5 minute video showing how paper on the floor gets kicked up whenever Batman walks over it. PhysX is over-rated! I'll stick with the 360 version- not as high res but tighter controls, guaranteed to work, downloadable content and acheivements (not that I care about the latter).
I enjoyed the game though, and I might change my opinion after some more time with the demo.

It's telling you what to do because it's a demo / tutorial. I don't think the main game will have PRESS THIS AND THIS TO DO THIS every time you get into a fight. I hope not, at least.
