Request for Mapping-Editor

<div class="IPBDescription">Walktime-Measurment</div>I didn't find a thread with suggestions and requests for the mapping-editor, so i started a new one.

I just came up with a new feature for the editor:
A tool to measure traveltimes for different units. Simple draw a path onto the ground of the map and the editor will output the traveltime for this path for a skulk, a marine, a HA, Onos, Gorge, blinking Fade.
That would quicken the mapping progress in terms of mapbalance.
Mappers wouldn't have to compile the map, put it into the game, start up ns2, take a stopwatch, stop the time of travel...

Even if it doesn't give perfect timing-information for every way, it would still be a really good startingpoint for creating hallway-routes

I would suggest that it be a separate 'module' that you can 'plug in' to the editor; so that, say for a completely independent project, or a mod with different settings, it could account for the differences - and as it isn't in-built into the editor, it isn't superfluous for an independent project which it otherwise would be, and the editor could remain tied to the engine but independent of the game.
So it would specifically be an NS2 module - to add to the idea though, apart from travel times(speeds), it should also contain 'rulers' like, stuff what was mentioned in the ns2 mapping guide thread, size in units of an onos, etc. Anything else that you could add to the module? These would be specifically NS2 related.

Editor plugins would be quite awesome, but more specifically this idea sounds like a winner to save alot of time.

Ye, all the information like that sounds good. I'll leave the implementation discussion to those who have actually mapped more than a room or two.

QFT. This is a good idea, especially if you can accurately time vents/water/stairs/etc.
