It depends on the graphics chip and CPU of the laptop. If it's a craptop then you're not going to get anywhere regardless of the tweaks you use. You could try:
    1. Running it at the lowest possible resolution in-game (640x480)
    2. Typing in console: gl_texturemode gl_nearest

If these two don't get you to 50, then you're SOL and need to get a better system.

At the moment I have my sister's craptop. I will try decreasing resolution and that Nr.2 don't work i think.
Anything else? Maybe someone else knows? I remember there were some FPS configs, but I cant find them.

FPS configs serve more to stabilize FPS than increase it. They may let you squeeze 5-10 fps out of your system. If you can't reach a playable FPS with the lowest resolution and that texturemode that I suggested, your hardware is inadequate. There may be custom low-poly packs that exist (I don't have the patience of searching through broken links in the customization forums for these) but I doubt that these would help much.

I can actually run NS on my Acer Aspire One pretty decently on the smaller maps, maybe someone here can submit you a cool config that can tweak your preformance a bit.

Well if your sister is anything like mine, then you're not going to get very far without a reformat. What she does to that computer I'll never know... But if a reformat is not possible I'd just suggest that your drivers are all up to date and that you don't have an obscene amount of background processes (AIM, IRC, web browsers, media players, anti-viruses performing scans...) chugging along while you game it up.

I actually reformat about every 10 months which seems to do a world of good really.

There used to be some low-poly models, but I dunno if you'll be able to find them any more.

What model of laptop is it?

Some models of computer without 3D accelerators just don't do well in NS. I had a Dell Inspiron 1100 (2.0GHz P4-based Celeron) that only got about 5 FPS in a fully built marine start because it didn't have a 3D accelerator. My girlfriend's netbook (MSI Wind, 1.6GHz Atom) also gets about the same FPS for the same reason. My buddy's Dell Inspiron E1505 (2.0GHz Core Duo) does just fine in NS without a 3D accelerator, but it's a much better CPU.

If you have a poor 3D accelerator, then you'll probably see benefit from the low poly models. If you have no 3D accelerator at all, then the low poly models probably won't help. I know, I created a lot of the low poly models to use on that old Inspiron 1100 I mentioned above. They didn't help.

The best place to find the low poly models is FPSBanana. The pack I made is at <a href="http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/39676" target="_blank">http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/39676</a>

    Here is the laptop:
    Acer Aspire 5310
    intel celeron M processor 520
    (1.6Ghz,533 Mhz FSB, 1 MB L2 cache)
    Intel graphics media accelerator 950
    512MB DDR2
    Screen 15.4"

I dont know about 3D accelerator... All i want is minimum ~30fps and just smooth game, I dont care about visuals, I care only about smoothness and SOUND. Is that possible?

p.s. I downloaded low poly pack, dunno if there is a difference.

Sorry, NS is never going to run well on that laptop. The Intel GMA 950 video chip in your laptop isn't designed to handle 3D games, which means all the work has to be done by the CPU, which isn't powerful enough to take on the 3D work in addition to it's regular tasks. Half-Life will run pretty well, Counter-Strike will be okay, but Natural Selection pushes the HL engine further than any other mod. It's only been recently that CPUs have gotten fast enough where they can take over the graphics tasks from a dedicated 3D accelerator in NS.

If you're looking for another older computer in the future, you want one that says Ati or Nvidia, not "Intel graphics" (Intel chipset is fine, though). Or, if you get a very new computer, you want one with a Core Duo, Core 2 Duo, Core i7, Athlon X2, or Phenom II processor. All of those processors should be fast enough to run NS without needing a separate 3D accelerator.

I set the video mode to D3D, and NS is running even better! My killing count tripled by good fps <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
About processor, I know this is bad one, but the new PC will have a Phenom II 940, to run GTA 4 pretty good with a good video card. And of course to run NS2 smoothly <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

That's funny, I have a Celeron M at 1.5 GHz and a GMA900 and get 30-40 FPS. Though I have 2 GB of RAM instead of 512. You might have so many background applications running that it's forcing HL to run in swap and killing performance. I'd suggest trying to put at least 2 GB in it, it'd probably give you a good boost in performance.
