The article was reportedly deleted a couple of years ago, but with the release of NS2 around the corner it seems that its high time for a new one to be created. Edit it, flesh it out, make it an article worth noting.

Unknown Worlds (UWE) is an independently-owned American game development company whose goal is to "unite the world through play". Based in San Fransisco, California, the studio is best known for the forthcoming sequel to Natural Selection, due to be released in 2009.
History
Unknown Worlds was formed in May 2001 by Charlie Cleveland and began life as a the collective developers responsible for the development of the high profile free mods Natural Selection.
The phenomenal success of Natural Selection convinced Cleveland to start work on a commercial sequel to the game: Natural Selection 2. Soon after Cleveland founded Unknown Worlds Entertainment as a commercial computer games studio.
In October 2006, Max McGuire became the studio's first employee, having previously worked at Iron Lore Entertainment as Lead Engine Programmer. McGuire became the Technical Director of UWE and development of Natural Selection 2 began in earnest.
To fund development of Natural Selection 2, the studio created and released Zen of Sudoku
Future
In May 2009, Unknown Worlds began taking pre-orders for Natural Selection 2.

There you go, I made it awesome for ya! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
There are still a few things needed:
- upload a decent version of the UWE logo to Wikipedia (please name it "UWE logo.jpg")
- confirm the date that the studio (UWE) as opposed to the dev group (UW) was created as a commercial business
- confirm what type of company UWE is (i.e. a Limited versus Plc., or whatever the US equivalents are)
- translate what's there into a few other languages, such as German, French, Spanish, Finnish, Polish, Russian (best done once final amendments have been made)
- confirm current release date estimate for NS2 (edit this into Future section)
Another traslation i think is good enough.
I just got Crispy CodeBox and translated it to spanish.
Thanks Crispy.
