New Onos Ideas

Well now that we got a look at the new Onos, I thought about what could be different and how I wanted it to be different then the original. The biggest cosmetic change was all that new armor plating. This could mean many things. a) this is what all new onos look like. b) this onos has the cara (or same kind of thing) upgrade. c) some new ability upgrade. I wanted to focus on the last option. My idea is that the onos takes vastly reduced damage from the front (think like 10% normal damage). Now this might be something that all onos have by default (making the onos just stronger, but perhaps lower health), or it could be a new kind of upgrade from defense. This would enhance gameplay I believe as it would make the onos more strategic. They wouldn’t be able to just run-into massive encampments alone and kill everyone (as the marines would surround and kill the onos). But as a hit and run, or with a group to prevent the marines for getting behind the onos would be even more powerful then before.
The other new thing maybe is that roar. Is that maybe the animation for some new kind of ability? What kind of things do you think something like that would do? Maybe boost the speed/atttack speed/damage of nearby aliens? Or maybe scare the marines having some kind of negative debuff to marines near by?

If you look at the Onos model in HL Model Viewer and run it's anims, you'll see a lot of cool stuff that never appeared in the game.
In fact, IIRC, the only one that DID have working anims was the Skulk, and that was largely due to a fiddle in animating it's jaw.
(again, most of this is from memory, five years ago or more)
