Nobody is impressed by, or compelled to listen to, barely veiled contempt and hostility. Just because you aren't swearing doesn't mean you aren't at each-other's throats. A discussion can only be held between two people that are capable of understanding the other person's point of view, something that you two seem to be fundamentally incapable of doing.
