Why Do People Do These Things?

5 gorges at the beggining
Building a sensory chamber first
Just sitting around as skulks and listening to their fav band in the beggining
Commander wants to take 4 spots at once in the beggining
6 marines just sitting in main base even after they have filled up on ammo
Marines who think this game is CS
Commander wants to make more resource bases when instead he could drop a siege right next to that hive area and take a 2nd hive, all while the aliens are all fades and destroying **obscenity**
Commander doesn't really give any info, so everyone goes where they feel like it
2-3 fades just shooting acid rockets at a turret base(acid rockets do little if any damage, waste of time), but then I go in and hide behind the turret control and take it out, then they finally all come in and destroy the dead turrets
Commanders who decide to put all the turrets in front, so that theres no way a skulk can get by, but then wait... how'd that skulk kill the base? I wonder...
A fade is doing the ol' rocket n hide routine, the marines think if they just sit there shooting at it when it pops out, they'll kill it
This I thought was the stupidest thing I've ever seen:
I was commander, I needed people to get to south loop right away. This guy in HA w/HMG is sitting in base using voice chat going, "I Need a Weld, someone weld me my armor is almost gone" he does this for 3 minutes, I told him if he dies I'll give him some more **obscenity** armor, but he still wanted his weld.....
But here's the best part:
He finally gets it, goes outside the base and right down the hallway a Fade kills him

i know what you mean, but its a bit unfair to be making a distinction of 'newbies' after the mod has been out for less then 2 weeks , dont you think?

Started a LAN game by myself to run around, explore the maps, and test out the various modes, weapons and species.

Read a ton of posts on the forums. Especially in the new player forum.

Spectated a few games
Only then did I feel I could maybe join a game and not make a fool out of myself.
I mean come on... I never ever read tutorials, cuz I play the game and figure the stuff out.
Another stupid thing, when people are gorgs... They put up a chamber, and leave it be (taking like 3/4s longer to build) and then just walks around, maybe places another beside it and walks away, now what is up with that? Insults, Deleted I mean, come on. It's only good if you are gonna set up like 3 buildings or more to get a hold of the place.
Do not attempt to get around the swear filter again.

I was saying to turrets. I usually see 2-3 fades all the time trying to shoot some random turret base to death... the acid rockets don't do much damage if any to the turrets. Its much faster to get in there and kill the TC.
its simple. when im commander, i only provide those who work as a team and follow orders with good equipment (unless i have abundant resources)
Due to the lack of them sticking together, their belief that they could kill 100 Skulks with 2 clips all by themselves, not building structures, and acting like complete morons through out the game, we lost. Horribly mind you, we didnt even have an HMG ready and we only had 1 operrational resource extractor.
Looks like they have the same IQ as the bots i´m using
This always happenes when i´m practising commanding on a LAN with bots, i have to build everything by myself.
And i don´t think it´s fair to call first time players bad names and have a go at them because they don´t excactly know what to do. I have been playing since the day it was released and have become pretty good at it, but i was like a complete n00b the first 2-3 days or so, and so were most of you. Now, many of us have become pretty experienced fast, but remember, there are still new players coming and you can´t expect them to be at our level the first day of playing. It´s unfair to them. You should rather try to help them out. If you are on the alien team, be a leader and tell them what to do and how to do it. You guys know the strategies, they don´t. You can´t expect them to read your thoughts and be great players on their own. Guide them through it and help them instead of using bad language and yell at them.
Am i the only one who feels that way?
That and the asshat who's going 'I need hmg and ha' when our rather-fabulous commander has them scattered all around the spawn point...
Someone add an IQ test to the installer, please?
I might agree with every point except this one. In playtesting, we constantly tried "unusual" build orders to make sure that tactics can be varied. Perhaps Defense, Movement, Sensory is the most straightforward combo, but starting with Sensory or Movement is also VERY effective. Think about it -
Sensory:
1) Marines are not expecting something like cloaking that early in the game
2) A marine is a 2-hit kill; when you can see them easily (Enhanced Hive Sight), those two hits are even easier.
3) The commander is likely to not hand out health packs to "free" LMG marines, especially while saving cash for expansions - no health packs = very useful Scent Of Fear.
Movement:
1) NS is an unbelievably sound-centric game. If you get Silence, you've taken away any chance of them hearing you coming.
2) Celerity will get you past base defenses to the Turret Factory/CC/IP even if you don't have leap available yet.
3) A one-hive lerk with Adrenaline is deadly.
Movement chambers also allow for quit retreats to base for healing or defense, since at only one hive *any* MC will take you back to the same hive.
Alot of players have only been playing this game a little over week, and you are already developing pet peeves about a beta 1 game that pwnz as it is.
Try to look about what is great:
marines working together
taking out cc with a skulk and screwing the marines
taking out that hive with a knife
knifing an onos
come on sir ! you will have more funplaying the game if u stop analyzing new players and telling htem how terrible of a player they are
positive!

I ALWAYS see the order of Defense, Movement, and Sensory. If a person dares suggest a different order they will recieve nothing but abuse. Most of the time you are called a "stoopid n00b" and laffed at. I guess ppl like thier routines, thier specific, prescribed, unalterable way of doing things. Variety = bad to most ppl it appears.
The inevitable came: I die!!
I spawn back! What was my surprise to see 4 marines in the base camping the weapons and not going anywhere when we have a second base under fire. I ask the commander for a weapon more powerful, they were jumping on it! I ask them to follow me through the phase gate, they stay at the base!
The commander and I have try very hard to coach them but there were not listening! They were just wanting their little toy!
Obviously, we lost the hive!
It was the 3rd alien hive!
Frustrating is'nt??
While it still might take a while to take out turrets with acid rockets, just remember that the slash attack takes out turrets in like 10 seconds of constant hitting, so it would probably only take 30 secons for a team of fades to kill a turret with acid rocket.
But also think of it this way: If you can weaken all the turrets *before* you attack with your slash attack, you'll stand a much greater chance of killing them before they kill you. And sometimes you *need* to take out a few turrets before going for the TF.

Without n00bs to make fun of... what would we write about in these wonderful forums.
We all know they are n00bs and have no clue what there doin' but hey ... that's the best part of picking on em
On a side note... I usually host a lan game at my school to teach everyone how to play the game... I hate seeing n00bs that bad

Well movement is not so bad. But defense is probably one of the best. Usually what I will do once we get 5+ resources up, I'll have enough to just start plopping down Offensive and Defensive towers, so I'll rush to a key point where I will drop 5 O + 8 D... early in the game, marines can not get through it. They would have to upgrade, and build siege towers... how long does it take for sieges to get through 8D? It also wasted their resources. This effectively blocks off a path, then I rush to all the other key locations and do the same. It gives a ton of time for another gorge to get a hive and other defense, resources, etc... What's also great is it gives the chance for fades(after second hive) to keep rehealing at that key location in only 3-5 seconds. Another thing is I'll place it in an area which is far enough away.. yet close enough to be effective. All marines have their bases all located at the exact same spots on every map. Almost always anyways. So you just plant that wall outside of a range of a siege from there, and now in order to get the wall they have to build another base, which gives more time for resources for aliens.
But that's just the wall, remember carapace, 3 shots instead of 2 for skulks, gorges have a much better chance to get away, a fade with carapace+movement can take out most TFs (after 2nd hive is done, cause you bought time with the walls), even if there are turrets all around
A fade is your number one key element to winning. A fade is crap without movement... and you are definitely going to get atleast defense with 2nd hive is built. If you don't get defense atleast for 2nd hive then you have no healing chambers, your offensive turrets can be destroyed very easily.
I can understand though that they all have their uses, but I would NEVER build sensory first. Not even 2nd. Fades with carapace(regen)+adren can mow through most marines and marine bases.
Remember Marines get end game, aliens get mid. If by mid game you haven't pretty much won, then the marines will just siege your **obscenity**. The faster I heal, the faster I shoot, the faster I can kill their bases.
Ok well maybe in a heavily defended base, you might need to. But there have been so many times that I have seen fades just sitting there shooting acid rockets. Well, I go in for a sec(carapace is your friend) look at their base, find out where the weak link is, then rush out heal, then run back in and destroy the TF at that spot. Even if 1 turret is shooting you in the back while you take out the TF, you will take it out before the turret kills you. I have done this many many times, don't forget to duck!!!
Also the reverts back to needing defense chambers as one of the first things to build. This allows the fade to use carapace instead of regen(too slow) and carapace will give you enough time to kill the TF.
One problem about that story people in the game cannot hear people in the readyroom.
