Hey guys,

This is the pc i got built (minus the hard drive and disc drive that i transferred from the old one). Id love to see what you guys think, as i really dont know much about PC components.

Video card: ATI Palit HD 4870 Sonic (overclocked) PCI-E 2.0 1GB 256-bit GDDR5, 775/3800 MHz (overclocked), Dual link DVI, HDMI, HDCP, Dual Fan.

CPU: AMD Phenom X4 Quad-core 9850 Black Edition, 2.5 GHz/4MB/AM2+/125W

Motherboard: ASUS M3A78-Pro, AMD 780G/AM2+/ATX

RAM: 4GB KIT (2x 2G) Kingston 'Hyper X' DDR2/PC6400/800 MHz

Power supply: 700W Greatwall True Power with 14cm fan.

Case: Coolmaster elite 331, NO PSU.

Extra fan: Cooler master 120mm case fan.

Havnt picked it up yet. I know its quite decent, but thinking about it, i dont know what half that means. for example: What on earth is 'hyper x' and what is the advantage of it? Also, do you guys have an opinion on factory overclocked video cards? Seems to be what everyone gets now. I was also told running X-Fire with two GPUs was totally not worth it, and would give me only about 30% more power: true or false?

For those who are curious that all cost me about $1190 AUD.

Thanks dudes.

I refuse to piddle on your parade much, so I'll just be honest.

Your machine will run games great and you'll be fine.

    HOWEVER...

I am obsessed with reading benchmarks, reviews, yadda yadda. I am an ex-amd fan-

Reason is, price per performance is just in Intel/Nvidia territory these days, so you'd have gotten better/same performance for the same/less price if you went that route.

HyperX is just a marketing term. It's like having, say..

    Regular G.Skill DDR2 PC8500 1066 ram called

    G.Skill ROCKYOFACEBEOTCH PCULTRA8500 10662GUDRAM

Crossfire is relatively new compared to SLI, but honestly both are overrated. Unless you're running at some really high resolutions, the benefits just aren't worth the micro-stuttering (annoying as hell)

I have owned two factory overclocked cards. My old one was an 8800 GT and my new card is a GTX 260. The 8800 GT was great, this one can't OC for ###### beyond the highest factory OC I've seen for it.

    So to summarize;

You built a solid system that will serve you well for probably 2-3 years (4 if you stretch it) It just wouldn't be what I'd get, as a technical enthusiast.

I've never heard of that brand of PSU. If you have any trouble with your new machine, that's the first place I'd look.

Otherwise, you won't have any issues with performance. Just don't get buyer's remorse by reading every comparison chart from every fanboy. If it works for you, be happy.

    Looks fine to me.
PSU seems a bit over the top though, that setup should draw around 300-350W.
    Happy gaming.

As long as you're not worried about your power bill, better too much than too little. I have a 1kW supply in mine, and I probably don't draw more than 400W or so. Better safe than sorry I say. I can expand all I want and never have to worry about power.
