I'm usually able to tell by the angle and where they are aiming at to find 'em.
Besides, too many tracers would clog up the server I'm sure of it.
I'd say some fine tuned tracers can help teamplay a bit as you're more aware what your teammates/opponents are shooting at. The same goes for turrets too. Maybe even give squad leaders a different kind of tracer to help focusing the fire.

It would be nice purely as an aesthetic thing. I don't think it will contribute much to gameplay. And you don't need to have every shot fired to be a tracer round. Just maybe 1 in 3 or 1 in 4, so it won't be too messy on the eyes.

If it's done client side should the "tracer percentage" be modifiable?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> On NS the amount of tracers is defined by the level of weapon upgrade. I think that could be taken a bit further so that an experienced player can estimate the weapon level by the amount of tracers. Actually someone probably already does that, but it's really difficult unless you've modified the tracer visuals (not blocked by consistency afaik). Of course the tracer ratio multiplier can still be client variable if you want to, no matter if the upgrade/tracer feature is implemented.

The effect is at least worth considering I think.
