Is there any difference between it and Quake 3?
But maybe your tastes have matured in the interim, eh? EH?!
That... or maybe this is an old game that I've already played to death.
My gameplay tastes may not have matured, but chicken still tastes like chicken*.

Hey, I thought you stayed in the NS2 forums. What are you doing way over here?
They definitely did a great job putting it into a browser, I was impressed by that. But it's still the same game I played long ago. I don't see any good reason for me to go play it again... It's in a browser doesn't seem to be enough justification to play it any more than to see how well it runs.
Also- I think the queue might be smaller when you first are installing it because It was only like 1000 or something the first time i played... now it's like 10,000
More interesting is the question of what the advantages are here. No complicated installation?
Even better... You get to play the tutorial during the installation.

Meh: <a href="http://www2.rasterwerks.com/game/phosphor/beta1.asp" target="_blank">http://www2.rasterwerks.com/game/phosphor/beta1.asp</a>
<strike>Quake Live uses ActiveX, Windows only -.-
Might as well install <a href="http://openarena.ws/about.html" target="_blank">Open Arena</a></strike>

yay!
All in all it's pretty cool, but I'm not sure why I'd want to use a browser to play a FPS. tabs? I wonder if adblock plus can block ingame ads, hmm.
Yeah I agree, it's totally unfair for them to take our money like this and promise 100% functionality in their beta test only to end up with bugs.
Or perhaps I meant to say that it's free and it's a stress test so this kind of stuff is pretty much supposed to happen.
NS1 in a browser? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/asrifle.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::asrifle::" border="0" alt="asrifle.gif" />
This ###### was top quality 3 ###### months ago. Its still awesome. It'll continue to be awesome. Be ready to be slaughtered, because all the pros are there. Took me weeks of daily play to not die in seconds. I can rocketjump decently, but only decently. These ###### are insane. Seriously.
Its brilliant, runs great, and I've tried it on 4 systems now- from "Can't even play WoW" to Crysis level, and they all perform great. My only real gripe is the game sometimes overwriting your config.cfg(if you even use one) sometimes, and the iffy nature of it's alt-tab support.
Firstly new game modes, CA, CTF is changed, and there are a lot of tweaks to game modes.
Weapon balances are different, LG is weaker, rockets are faster but weaker, rail is weaker.
Movement is easier and faster.
Every single map has been updated and changed for the better.
Netcode has been improved.
That's about it i think.

The textures are also somewhat touched up, and the lighting in levels are improved
And ######, its fun to go against newbies again. I feel like I've been a vet having played the beta for months now. I just was told "Quaunaut, get out of here, you're too good for this game". Damn what an ego-stroke.
New wonder: zomg ware r my stats
Also: I'm Quaunaut on there, as always.
Are you using Vista? If so, how often is the lag?
I do not have any gameplay problems nor any lags at all. My ping is between 35 and 100 depending on the server.
The only problem I have is that the skill evaluation system seriously needs to be worked at. I have played with people having the same skill as I and it felt more like they were at least twice stronger then me. Since there are no filtering of player connections on the servers, you could simply go play on less skilled server and beat the crap out of them. However, this seams to be done by a lot of people. I have played on servers with suposevily less skilled people then I (was being powned on matched skilled servers) but there were on them higher skilled players then me. This caused very often players of lesser skills to simply disconnect or start yelling CHEATER. I am getting back to matched skilled servers because I figured the only way to get better is to play with people better then you and learn from it.
I mostly play CTF. At first my left hand (movement hand) was hurting alot as I did not play this game in over 3 years. I hadn't played this kind of game since. It felt a bit weird at first but then I started getting back the playing feeling I had back then.
Anyone playing to start an NS clan on QuakeLive ?
I'd rather let players choose whether they are low, medium, high or N1GHTM4R3 skilled then match them up with anyone from the same skill group. Okay, abusable etc... but a lot more practicle especially in a deathmatch game where skill is so important and like any sport you can have good days and bad days.
FWIW, when I played in the beta I had some players my skill and some players a lot higher but as I only played a few games I didn't mind- I don't expect the game to know my level when it's only got a couple of ranked games to look at.
I've really started to like this. Q3 engine runs much better than HL based games on Vista and the browser and matchmaking seem to be quite decenet too. The community seems surprisingly mature and most of the public games are far more relaxed than in NS. All in all a very positive surprise for me.
Anyone else getting more into QL?
Hit registry is awesomely awesome wicked sic killer phat 133t hawt good though. As has always been the case with Quake <3
All that stuff is easy ¬_¬ respawn times are (unless they've changed it in QL) the same for everything. It was unreal where you had every item with a different respawn timer, half of which were like 27 seconds or something equally nonsensical.
