Exit Fate

RPG goodness, massive scale, free of charge
Psst.
Hey.
Hey you.
You like old school RPGs? Like the ones on the Sega Genesis and the SNES? Turn based battles where characters mysteriously exchange blows one at a time for no good reason? A far reaching epic plot line? A long story with other things on the side to do?
Then I have just the thing for you. It's this thing called Exit Fate. It has all these things and more, and what's better? It's a game you'd expect from a professional developer for a fee, which is totally free of charge. Corners cut? Maybe. Some of the music has been taken from Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 7. I don't have a problem with it meself. Good games with good music.
Did I mention there are also strategic battle sections, and over 75 different characters you can recruit to assist your army and fight in your party?
Intrested?
Huh, you're asking me why I sound like I'm trying to sell you something which is already free?
I guess people these days consider anything worth playing is worth paying for, there are plenty of indie titles that are worth playing if you look for them. Consider this a well-made RPG for the low, low price of zero dollars, my treat.
If you like oldschool RPGs, you are going to love this game, I assure you.

Might kind of break the immersion for me though, since I'd be liable to instantly recognise it.

It's not LE FUN!
+ the protagonist has white hair, that just ticks me off.
Obviously the ultimate criteria for RPG games everywhere. I personally favor red haired protagonists. =]
it's like 10 hours long at most, and LOL funny all the way through. I wouldn't even know where to start on describing the hilarity. No JRPG convention goes un-lampooned, and at the same time, it embraces them and makes them fun. And oh, the replay value...
The girl with the white/pink hair in the GBA FF-Tactics must have made you mad too.
I don't play a lot of Final Fantasy.
