<div class="IPBDescription">right, you are not going to sell....</div>Right, you are not going to sell the game. We would accept 10$ but not 30$ as for 15-25$ maby, If you dont make "expansions". The range of price should be 10$ as a minimum to 20$ as a maximum if you don't plan to make expansions (25$ if you really have to). If you make a third one you could probably sell it for 50$ that would be acceptable and again as long as you don't make expansions.
Things that could make the game worth more
1. 10+ hour campaign with co-op. Thats actually nearly impossilble for this game. -10$ from 50$
2. Not a new company. well again is impossible. -10$
3. No expansions, only updates and patches (obviously would inclued new content). Well if you do decide to do expansions, -20$ if you dont +10$
4. revolutionary graphixs/phisics/etc any thing new that other games dont have. Well you do have some thing most games don't have, but I said most. There are free games out there that do what you do, just not so broad. Since the game's all around features are new to a point -5$
You get a max sell rate of 25$ if you didnt inclued expansions. Now there are many more factors that would downgrade this game even further and precious few that would allow the price to rise, I don't have enough time to name them all. This is a very generous max and the fact that games usually have to lower there price (for example, fallout 3 could have made thier game 115$ and it would have been allright using the method I used and most methods but they had to lower the price to compete) Thats why you would then have to lower the price to 20$ (well you wouldn't have to more people would buy it though) now if you inclueded expansions you would have to pay for, it would be 10$
Now if you wouldn't realease any expansions that you would have to pay for and you needed the 30$ max to make a profit you could, that is supported but you would not be allowed to make payable expansions only free updates/expansions/patches
lowest and if you inclueded expansions that cost money 10$ the most reasonable price 20$ (if you didn't inclued expansions) 25$ generous max, 30$ very generous max
now you could do 20$ and have two 4.99$ expansions if you were really broke or were not making a reasonable profit but that is at last resort and the first must be at least 1 year away from the commercial launch of the game, the second would be another year from that (granit they can be more but no less than a year from each realease of the previous expansion/game)
If you decide to go costly you will be loseing approximatley 20,000+ possible sales. Thats a lot of money down the crapper. 400,000 (- what ever the publisher and retailers take ) dollars down the drain. Now this is not your main fan base but recently interested people from around the world and people who haven't played the first one.

1. You don't play NS for a co-op campaign go play Gears of war 2.
2. Pretty new to me...
3. Who cares....
4. Go play cellfactor this is not a physics sandbox or garry's mod.
NS is a multi player game so you can play more than 1000 hours.
So don't come to a community forums where people are excited about the game and say the game will be too expensive...
Because you do appear to be making them up.

Im going to ingore your post seeing as you did not take the time to read the thread, you don't know how to substian from flaming, and you don't know how to critique .
Any way my main point (though a little strought out) Is that we dont want another bungie/ea/ubisoft/360dlc type of game making you pay for expansions that should allready be
there or should be free in the first place.

Standard priceing used where I live. I suppose you could google it, though I doubt someone would spend the time to make a wiki about methods in estemating how much the price of somthing in a certain city.
30$ is a fine price in my opinion, and this has been discussed a lot already.
Seriously though, your criteria for deciding the pricing of the game are laughable. The value of the core game itself varies whether or not they plan on making expansions and the release date of said expansions... How would your reluctance to purchase additional content devalue the original game?
you don't make sense.
According to my own crazy logic the game should cost $40
-5 for every 3rd customer that proves they were born under a full moon.
+5 if your name rhymes with orange.
Every 5 millionth purchase gets a free gorge plush toy.
+/-10 if you roll double 6s/5s
that is all.

Its called simplifactation. If you wanted I could give you the exact number of what the estimation would be 23.56$ at max. As for my grammar you cannot expect all immigrants to type english perfectly. Theres a lot of crazy spelling in english as well as wierd grammar.
As for the worth of the game, you may feel that it needs to be a higher price, but of course any one who posts here has a 98% chance of being a fan of the game, there for partial to the game, and there for thier judgement of the game price is not valid. Thats why I said "Now this is not your main fan base but recently interested people from around the world and people who haven't played the first one." and why I said they would have lost all that money, they wouldn't be worried about you people.
I would say $30 is very fair. If multilayer in a game is good people will put many more hours into that than the single player. There are many single player or multilayer only games that have sold or are selling well above $30.
This may be a new company making their first game but they have a very successful proof of concept with a large fan base.
I don't think they will need to sell the game at casual game prices to get it out the door.

^^ This is what we call a smart person ^^
Fine I aggree with you, as long as they don't make expansions that cost money. The max can be 30$ no more. Thats actually the standard price for games like this (which have split off from the main engine to standalone) There was another recently realeased for 30$ but it wasn't worth it and it lost money and players quickly. This game I have to say, is a lot more deserving. It doesn't need a campaign though.
You know what I find laughable?
The hype around Left 4 Dead!
Yes, it is a nice game, but 50$ for only 4 campaigns, of which only 2 can be played in versus mode? WTF?
And while the AI director is nice and all, other than that L4D isnt <i>that</i> breathtaking. It gets old pretty fast and lacks <i>features</i> - aka complexity aka <b>depth</b>.
What I want to say is: Considering other, crappy games that get sold for $50, NS2 can too!
And I think $30 or $40 is very reasonable since there is no Singleplayer.

Also take into account the NS2 dev team didn't make the engine entirely by scratch, Left for dead has suppierior grafixs animation and the AI director, valve built the source engine themselves, left for dead took less time allready than ns2 has and Valve members work on multiple projects at once. There are other things that you should take into account but The list is too large. Also have in mind that with mods inclueded there will soon be 30 quality campaigns within 2009 for free. Also whether left for dead is fun or not depends on the type of person you are. I agree that it gets boring after a while but when I stop playing it for about a week and comeback to it, It's fun again.
NS2 engine is not the source engine, they have changed to their own, built from scratch as well.
The other points about how Valve is busy and how their members have other projects are ridiculous.
Anyways: Your points about modifications. NS2 will be more customizable than HL and HL2 ever were (at least Max and Flayra told us so), therefore your points about user generated content are obsolete.
Try again <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

1st off dont be racist
2nd off I said nothing of usercreated content being one of left for deads strong points
3rd this isn't about left 4 dead.
4th no they did not do it completely from scratch, they said that it was origionally from the counter strike source and halflife 2 episode one engine and they edited from there. Granit, I'm not saying they didn't work hard to do that and finally make it standalone, but it wasn't completely from scratch. They probably worked harder on this than valve did on left 4 dead.
5th you contradict your self "they have changed to their own, built from scratch as well"
6th I admit that I don't know if the left 4 dead dev team were working on other valve projects (they probably weren't) But valve does do that. (for example if you look on google and search for half life episode 3 you will find that [whats it, doug lambardi?] said that when they were making half life 2 they had 80% of thier team working on it. It took them 6 years and they had to bring in people working on other projects to work on half life 2)
Don't worry, if you find the game expensive at first (and it might end up on 20$, who knows), there might be a weekend sale a few months after release. I'll bet they'll call it "Infestation Weekend Offer". <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
