<div class="IPBDescription">random NS discussion</div>It wasn't on the agenda, but they have a little stint talking about the olden days of NS around 7-12 minutes. Stuff like how rare an onos was and the dynamics of a tough rush to end game. Unfortunately, the end game becomes one-sided once Heavy armor or an Onos pops. But, these guys seemed to like the dynamics of a singular awesome ultimate tech that basically won the game.

Ironically, I started playing NS circa 3.0, so this dynamic was gone by the time I started.

Thoughts? Plans for NS2 balancing?

I don't really like "ultimate tech" style of gameplay. The RTS element is important, but as long as a team can out tech another with incremental upgrades an Ultimatum tech seems unnecessary. I'd rather the goal stay focused on killing the hive and not getting the uber-mech.

I remember beta games that lasted 4 hours (for a single round) and other betas versions where the marines has nukes. In one case you need uber weapons to break the tie in the other you've gone too uber.
