I'm one of the "don't use them" crowd. Safe browsing is so ridiculously easy, I really don't see how people manage to screw it up so badly. Also, if you are running XP 32bit, then you can use Sandboxie to try out random crap you download, or even browse from within it. Hell, I use it so much that if anything won't install and run in it I don't use it. Why sandboxing software like this isn't a built-in component of every modern desktop operating system is beyond me.
