Steam Official Game Group?

I was thinking that a really excellent method to promote Natural Selection 2 would be to make an official game group, which I imagine is pretty easy because a bunch of indie games and mods have their own. For those of you who do not know, Official Game Groups get a special category in the Group List and are a really good means of posting news updates and attracting new users to a game. It would also make for a good central hub outside of the website of course. Some people can't be bothered to go browsing on websites and Steam might be a bit more convenient. The existing game group seems a little out of date as well...could use some dusting off in a new, regularly updated form.

I recommend it!

    I second it.

This could give a good impression of how many people are actually following the game. Not everyone uses forums.

    <a href="http://steamcommunity.com/groups/naturalselection" target="_blank">http://steamcommunity.com/groups/naturalselection</a> ?

Both <i>naturalselection2</i> and <i>ns2</i> are taken, but I don't see a problem with using this one, which already has a lot of members...

Because it is a random group competing next hundreds of others. An Official Game Group is on a separate page, and instantly communicates to a reader that this is either a mod or a professionally made game - which catches their interest a lot faster. So that means more potential buyers and also more features for the steam group. Official game groups have a larger banner that can convey more information, as well as the ability to add screenshots and art similar to a store page, and avatars that users can instantly select to be their own. The benefits are numerous.

Alrighty, I mistook the Official as "official" <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" /> Also where can I find these official steam groups?

    Is this one, <a href="http://steamcommunity.com/groups/Valve" target="_blank">http://steamcommunity.com/groups/Valve</a>

Should be since it is, Valve and Vale is also linking to it from their publisher page. Or do you mean a publisher's
    list, like this one, <a href="http://store.steampowered.com/publisher/Valve/" target="_blank">http://store.steampowered.com/publisher/Valve/</a>

In short where is this seperate page, Steampowered is kinda cluttered with links...

When you search for them there is a dropdown bar where you selected Official, Public and Private.

    <a href="http://steamcommunity.com/actions/GroupList?sortby=SortByMembers&filter=ogg" target="_blank">http://steamcommunity.com/actions/GroupLis...&filter=ogg</a>

But that is the official listing.

Wow, one of my past friends actually owns that ns2 page. Pretty lame to hold it for no reason like that. Think I'll actually bother IMing him to ask him why.

I doubt the group names are in competition with the Official Game Group Names.. See, those have a prefix like <a href="http://steamcommunity.com/games/L4D" target="_blank">http://steamcommunity.com/games/L4D</a> while thr groups go with <a href="http://steamcommunity.com/groups/Valve" target="_blank">http://steamcommunity.com/groups/Valve</a>

<a href="http://steamcommunity.com/games/NS2" target="_blank">http://steamcommunity.com/games/NS2</a> sounds good to me. Good idea.
