MvM and AvA as a Combat replacement for NS2?

<div class="IPBDescription">Marine vs Marine and Alien vs Alien</div>I was thinking that maybe the Marine vs Marine and Alien vs Alien game modes could be implemented in NS2 as the game's official "training" mode (in classic mode of course, e.g having 2 commanders for MvM). Someone new to the game could first start playing in these 2 game types and later move on to the more advanced MvA. Some of the benefits of having modes like these would be:

-General rts training for commanders on MvM (2 commanders vs each other + marines).
-Different strategies may be viable in different game modes (much like the different game modes in TF2), which contributes to a richer game experience.
-Would maybe be as popular as MvA, but not more popular, unlike Combat (unless MvA is badly balanced). My reasoning for this is that even in starcraft the fight between 2 different races is more... interesting than say 2 terrans or 2 zergs fighting.
-Game mechanics are the same as classic play (unlike Combat), so there is little difficulty to adapt, requiring only a change in tactics.
-These modes offer balanced games on servers with any number of players (what Combat was supposed to do), so they are very useful for nearly empty servers, especially AvA.

Now I know most people here hate Combat, but I think MvM and AvA are different enough from it to merit some thought about their place in NS2. As long as MvA is balanced, it should be played as often, if not more than these other 2 modes.

So what do you guys think?

PS. Sorry if someone mentioned this already, search isn't working for me right now.

I personally think that MvA is simple enough as it is, as marine, you follow teamates and shoot anything that moves. As alien, you follow your teamates and BITE anything that moves. The rest comes with practice...(That is just the game to a noob)

If there were 3 different modes implemented, MvA would always be primary, nobody would play the MvM at all, and AvA would be more of a pro alien thing. People wouldn't use it for training, they would just get confused.

Basically, MvM is the simplest, but nobody would want to buy NS2 just to play as a marine shooting other marines, that is just like every single other game out there. Same with AvA, even though a few people may try it. BUT, AvA would be completely stupid if any of the current ideas like "Skulks grabbing onto marines" were added.

It would be a fun thing to play a few times, but it would get old fast. These simple "mods" would NEVER replace combat. Too many people LOVE it. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/siege.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::siege::" border="0" alt="siege.gif" />

I'm really hoping they put in a quick 3 level single player that's basically a tutorial. With small 5 node, 1 hive maps, wherein the new marine recruit has to build, shoot, and command. I guess they might want a 4th level, too, to try as an alien.
All this in order to build a community, and to do so they'll need new players who aren't discouraged by the intimidating in-depth knowledge of vets of ns1. It might be worth it for them to spend a little bit of time and money on a single player "campaign" (and by campaign I mean playing a round on mini tanith, but with a story line). Or perhaps, ns_sanji?

Ofc, it would never replace classic/combat. I had played NS for a few years until I first tested MVM-classic, my first reaction was "Holy ######ing ###### this ###### is awesome!". And I still do.
I think the game should come with a few maps, it's fun to play sometimes and new players would knows that this "stupid" gametype is possible. 1 mvm/ava classic or combat server out of 1000 normar wouldn't hurt anyone, only get more players to NS2.

    I could just see it.

Gorge sitting around waiting for res to put up hive when skulk walks up.

    Gorge: "Waiting for res."
    Skulk: "I'll cover you..."

    2 minutes pass...

Gorge: "Hey, use /giveres to speed this along, you mind?"
Skulk: "Sure, give me a second.."

Skulk climbs off of wall and approaches gorge.

    Skulk: "Doesn't work."
Gorge: "What do you mean, 'Doesn't work'? /giveres 10 "
    Skulk: "Yeah, I tried that."
Gorge: "You have 10 resource to give?"
    Skulk: "Yeah..."
Gorge: "Wait, what team are you on?"
    Skulk: "..."
    Gorge: "Help at ventilation hive!"

    Skulk tries to eat gorge.
