Copying music based off a playlist

I have a friend running a mac laptop and he uses iTunes. I am trying to help make copies of songs based off of playlists. By this I mean, we want to take all the songs on a playlist in iTunes and copy them to another backup drive. The songs on the playlists we want are scattered through all kinds of folders, so doing it by hand would suck.

Someone told me foobar, the free music player for windows can do this. Sadly he lacks the windows. Any suggestions for the mac?

    You're trying to do something mildly technical on a mac? For shame!

    If it's one of those shiny OSX ones, "cat playlist.lst | while read line; do cp "${line}" /destination/directory ; done".

    Oh wait, itunes doesn't store playlists in anything approaching a sensible format? I guess you're out of luck.

    This was on my del.icio.us feed the other day, might help. It's a bit hacky but it gets you your music in a DRM free format too.
