my google-fu is weak
So I read an article a while ago during the primary season and for the life of me have not been able to find it again. I'm hoping someone recognizes the blogger/author or something similar because my arcane boolean algebra searches have yielded nothing; even the goat sacrifices failed.

The gist of the article was this(this is not the exact wording because I can't seem to find it):
There are four great American stories that politicians like to tell.

The Paragon. America is/has to be a paragon of freedom and prosperity. FDR and The New Deal. Lincoln and the Emancipation Proclamation

Barbarians at the gates. It's "Us" against "Them". Eisenhower and the cold war.

The American(Immigrants) Dream. The ability for any person to improve their station. Abraham Lincoln, log cabin.

Beacon on the hill. Moral superiority. Overthrow of dictators and occupation of Manila/South America. Theodore Roosevelt and "Speak softly but carry a big stick".

I'm a little fuzzy on the last two, but overall the article was very well written and I'd really like to find it again to at least find out who the author is.

I could not find the one you were talking about. But this one is on the same lines.
