well, its called DEMO in hl2, savage1, savage2, hl1,dues ex and so many other games.

actually i dont think their adding it, there are better things to do, more important things. and to be honest i never get people who like to watch a old game again, i just play a new one. whit ecception of movie making. but im not against it nor for it.

i have some notes to you:
do not copy from other games. we have already to many clones on the marked. (hmm. maybe you shouldnt bring H3...)
"all the cool kids are doing it". well, heres no one cool, nor do i see any kids around. and who cares what they are doing? sorry, but it lowers the chance that your suggestion actually goes implemented.

if i sound harsh for you, im sorry,i just wanted to help you out.

    PS: actually i dont sound that nature english/british <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> (no offense, brits)

Correction. Pro (and wannabe pro) players use demos. Plus, fans of pro gameplay also like to view demos of the high-level play.

Demos are only useless if there is no high-level play.

Demos are a vital part to create strategies in competativ play / pro gaming. If you want to make NS2 a game that can be played on a high level of professionality, a demo function is a must IMHO.

Also Demos are used for Movie Making. The Devs statet that they want to make NS2 open for modding. There are quite a couple of very popular machinima series out there. If you have a great new engine that's easy to modify, it seems to be a nice alternative for machinima directors. Wich can lead to popularity if there are the first couple of movies that use NS2.

I suppose it would be sort of nice to have a demo function that would automatically record, then allow the user to save or discard the demo afterwards. It's sort of annoying when you do something cool, but it's not captured on demo because you didn't start recording earlier.

For a competitive gaming on HIGH scale, a DEMO feature is a MUST! I'd love to see DEMO's to gain an enemy clan's stratagies on certain maps. Indeed, he did a horid way of presenting his idea, and there is more important things to do, but putting this in later, even if it ain't as polished as the H3 version, but still damn good, that'll be all we need.
