<div class="IPBDescription">A personal evolution</div>Hi everyone,
I've been away from NS for some time now, getting on with my life (working in a pub and going to Thailand for a stretch of time), but now I have some news;
I recently got my first full time industry job as a level designer (woooo!...finally!)
I have been working for Sony Computer Entertainment in Cambridge UK for the past few weeks, and things are going pretty well! It's all rather new to me (such as doing this s4!% 8 hours a day!), but it's where I wanted to be all these years and I'm happy I finally got around to getting myself there.
I wanted to thank everyone here who ever encouraged me by enjoying and supporting the work I have done for Natural Selection, for making me feel like it has been worth doing the things I do beyond my own personal motives, and also thank those who didn't and did the opposite, for showing me where my focuses have been lacking and letting my work down. NS has been a huge part in my transition from hobbyist level designer to aiming for the real deal, and I didn't want to pass by the opportunity to say thank you to those who accompanied me along the way, even if I never directly spoke to many of you.
Thank you all also for enjoying NS the game and supporting Charlie, Max, and their team in their pursuit of a worthy evolution of NS into the marketplace. I'm eagrely waiting for NS2 myself and have full confidence that it will be a great game that will surpass NS in every way, and I am happy and grateful for the enthusiasim and love people have shown for this, now, known world!
Well, I'm probably making a bigger deal out of this than is warrented, but a thank you is a thank you, and you all are welcome to it, so...thank you!

Or else if you'd like any Sony equipment, I get a 35% discount (before tax) <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" /> Although, it's still cheaper to buy a PS3 on offer in a store (a bit silly, isn't it?)
Anyway, keep in touch and we will work something out. The landing pad really tied the map together. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />
As someone who witnessed you scrap entire sections of maps that were 10x better than anything I'd ever seen done in HL1 I can't say I'm at all surprised that Sony hired you. And I too am proud of the re-distrubtion of Hera's Res Nodes we worked on for 3.1, and for the two dozen or so iterations of Machina I have on my Hard Drive <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
Please keep in touch so we all know which games to pick up: "yeah I totally know the guy that designed this level".
--Scythe--
I'm glad you didn't say that you leave ns and its community due to the new full time job, because, as we all know, nobody ever quits ns for long <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
Even if you try, really really hard... So true.
Grats, man.
Best of luck to you.
*shakes hands*
I'll be sure to let you know what we're working on when it is public knowledge. I can say that there will be a lot of expectations running on this game when it is announced, and I really hope that we can deliver! (We don't exactly have a comfortable time frame to complete it in either) I can say that it is NOT a first-person game, and is nothing at all like one.
