<b>This is the thread for the european WAR servers. North americans need to make their own.</b>
Okay, here's the deal: Let's get everyone on the same server. However, you can't have both Order and Destruction characters on the same server, so we should define two servers, one for each side. Above are my tentative suggestions. Those are Core servers. If there is sufficient demand for it we can define a set of Open RvR servers as well, but I really don't see why anyone would bother with those. Still, the option is there.

    I would like a server that doesn't have a silly name... sadly all core servers have silly names for some reason while the pretty/cool named servers have been changed to RvR and whatnot :/

    Personally I like the name "Karak Eight Peaks" (Sure I heard that in some of the stories I read back when I played Games Workshop) and I think some people at my work are playing order on Karak Hirn.

    I'd be tempted to sign up but I'm a casual player when it comes to MMOs- I'd need some fellow casual players with me so I'm not lightyears behind everyone else after a week or two.

    I don't think I play casual hours but I do play casual style... as a result I tend to be on for ages but level about a tenth the speed of most other people =3

    I know, graphics don't matter much, but I'm not gonna buy it until I see some high res textures and good looking shaders on that thing.

    WoW does not have them either, but at least they have a wider selection of colors, beyond grey, brown and green.

    The choice of servers was mostly arbitrary on my part, I didn't think anyone would honestly care about what name the server they play on has. I chose Karag Orrud because it was familiar to me - it was up during the beta, so I assume it will be up during the head start. The list of launch servers is sadly useless, since some of those won't be available for head start - and of course they neglected to tell us WHICH ONES. So I just picked servers that were in the beta AND on the list of core launch servers.

    We should restrict discussion to what servers we want to play on for now. There's a general thread for <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=104646" target="_blank">general WAR talk.</a>

    I now hear mumblings that Karag Orrud may be the server the russians picked. I don't mind russians, but they tend to not care much about speaking english, and MMOs kind of suck if you can't communicate with half the server population. So I'm going to point out once again that the servers above are subject to change for the time being.

    I'd like to move to an primarily English speaking server- I'm quite happy to open-party with people I don't know but the Queen's language is the only one I speak!

    Ok, Eight Peaks was stuffed to the Gills and back so I made my destruction on Axe Bite Pass instead (about the only non 'karak' or 'karag' server in the core list =p ).

    Got my orders on Hirn but gah... someone beat me to Lina! That was gonna be my archmage XD

    That's the scuttlebutt. I cannot verify the accuracy of that, but I have less reason to doubt the source than to trust it. I see no compelling reason to change the servers above, so that's where I will create my character(s).

    Things you want:

    <b>Primarily English Speaking.</b>
    (For example, the server the SWE/NOR contingent is also usually a safe bet, as they tend to also speak English to make things easier, whilst the Germans / French / Spanish tend to use their own languages)

    <b>Core.</b>
    Whilst I like the total open war aspect of the Open RvR, let's face it, it attracts the most retarded of players, 'lolz pwn t3h noobs roflol'. You're probably safer going for Core for this reason.

    <b>Balanced AGAINST your Faction.</b>
    If you have to pick, this is the better option. Fine, you find it harder to get randoms for groups. But your PvP Queues will be shorter, and you won't have to fight for every Quest mob. Long term, it's probably the better option.

    I'd suggest intentionally picking one with a 'non cool' name. People are going to arbitrarily choose, and they'll pick the memorable ones. So avoid Karak Eight Peaks (which features heavily in WHFB Canon) and go for the unpronouncable one. It'll probably pay off.

    Just my 2p. I'm not buying WAR pending some serious reviews, but I am considering it. If so, I'll be definitely playing Destruction by choice, so that'll get my vote.

    I'm flexible for my destruction as I've not played them yet, but I've got some made on Karak Azg... azu... that one that starts with 'az' <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

    I'm very happy with my order on Karak Hirn. Not bumped into anyone speaking non-english and most people are fairly amiable.

    If you want a server stacked <b>against</b> you, you're going to be looking at playing Order no matter where you go. Destruction got the ###### hyped out of it, and the populations show it.

    Since there doesn't seem to be a wild scramble for suggesting Order servers, I'll just say Karak Hirn for now. I've got characters on both the servers above (on the respective sides), both named Delia. Feel free to send me a shout.

    Destruction on Eight Peaks with my Collector's Edition Preorder.

    Yeah, the queue hurts but it's predominantly English and I only get online outside primetime so all is well.


    Did I hear a suggestion for an Order server? I'm more geared for Destruction than Order but I've a soft spot for Witch Hunters...

    If you're jumping on Order feel free to add Jemma (My Shadow warrior), Jennifer (White Lion) and Eclaire (Archmage).
    Not sure how much playtime Jemma will get... I love her outfit but the shadow warrior play style rubs me up the wrong way.

    I love playing Jennifer and Eclaire though so those two are a safe bet for catching me =3

    I've also got a witch hunter and warrior priest but I've not actually played them yet. If I do I'll post their names =D

    So which will NS be doing primarily, Order or Destruction?
    (Let's be honest here, attempts to do both will just dilute it, and result in either losing people or a Guild never really forming)

    Difficult. My gut tells me most people will go Destruction. Then again, most people do go Destruction anyway, not just in the NS community but in general.

    I'm not going to tell people what side they must play. And by extension, I can't promise I'll play whatever side is dictated to me. I am at this point not sure what I want to stick with.

    I would choose destruction if it weren't for the feeling that they are grossly stacked. Being some sort of underdog has a nice ring to it anyway. The two friends that I am going to play this with don't like destruction that much and are gey for high elves. Empire not getting a tank is a blow in my orderly nads though.

    Destruction are cooler = more popular = we become a drop in the ocean + longer waiting times in scenarios.

    On another note play.com has managed to get my copy delivered today, slightly offset by the fact my hard-drive is dying (I think).

    I'm not playing anything, because I'm not buying it until it's 'properly' out, and I get to see how good/bad it really is. I don't trust pre-order people because let's face it, they're biased towards justifying why they spent their cash at this stage, rather than being prepared to admit it's a bad game.*

    Dunno about pre-order bias shocky... I wasn't impressed by Age of Conan from day 1 and wasn't quiet about it to anyone who asked =p

    I don't try and justify my spending, it either merits it or it doesn't and if it doesn't then I'm going to make sure it was only my money that got sunk and not my time by no longer playing it =3

    If it helps ensure you'll have more people, a load I know from DotA and ex-NS-turned-WoW all have rolled together on Alarielle as Destruction.
