Music in NS2?

Hi!

I´m an NS oldtimer, been playing since before HL was released.. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Here are my questions to the NS Team.:

1. Who makes the Music for NS?

2. Is NS2 going to have a similar theme?

3. Ever thought about some heavier tunes "read Metal" ingame?

4. Different songs for different maps?

I´m asking because I´m a Big NS fan, and a musician.
If you want to hear some heavy tunes that I have written check out my band at myspace.

The NS music was made by Jeremy Soule, the guy responsible for music from games such as Guild Wars, Knights of the Old Republic, and Oblivion. He did the music for NS really fast and for free, I guess because he liked the mod.

I find it highly unlikely he will make the music for NS2 considering the games he does make music for have multi-million dollar budgets, and since NS2 is a commercial game unlike NS, they'd have to pay him. Unless he's a really really nice guy who's obsessed with NS(would be nice).

On another note I like the music in NS, but I turn it off when I'm playing so I can hear better.

I personally turn the music off too, but I've always liked it and turn it on when I'm not really seriously playing.
I think a 'metal' theme would be... misplaced, although more 'up beat' songs that play during fire fights might be nice.
I think the music will generally be similiarly themed however.

    I would love some Command & Conquer (Original <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/nerd-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::nerdy::" border="0" alt="nerd-fix.gif" /> ) style music though.
    That, would be different.

You can stick your own music in. But I love the score.

If they can manage one more two minute track to use in the trailer and alternating in the menu, then I think that'll fill out the score fine. (assuming they can use the old music in this "new" title) We don't really need music in a multiplayer game, but the menu/trailer music sets the tone well before you play. If music is used in-game, maybe an ambient score per map would be good -- possibly only in the ready rooms.

I think the old music is great but I wouldn't want to see it in its entirety, but I wouldn't mind a (dare I say) 'remix' of an old one... or a reinvisionment if you will?
I also don't think having music in the ready rooms is a great idea, as I'm sure some players love to listen to the music as they play. It makes sense to have an option to turn the music off entirely rather than having an option to turn the music on during gameplay.

I enjoyed the music from NS, I hope something somewhat similar is whipped up for NS2. Would be grand if he came back and did music for the new one too.

The NS music feels a little too much like Castlevania to me. I would rather something darker and more cryptic like I heard in Incubation: Time Is Running Out.

This song was made for the guy doing the Live Action Natural Selection 2 trailer <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" /> May not be official NS2 music, but I think it's pretty damn good.

    It reminds a little bit of BF1942 theme.. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
    But it´s really good!

I´ve been thinking about maybe trying to re-make the old theme just for fun..
I´ll post it here when I´m done with it.. maybe around the same time as NS2 is released... <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

I would pay extra to have Jeremy Soule make the music for NS2, hell I'd pay him myself if I could afford it.
