I am already making a map based off the concept art. Cant wait for 2TR to finish it and send it to you guys.

The map will have more then just one window with a few ways to look outside. A 3d Sky Box will be used at 16 or 32 times to make the illusion seem real. There will be windows inside that will be breakable as well as a few lava pits and walkways. I will most likely release an alpha before 2TR to get feedback from NS players over how they like the map.

Any questions or comments, please PM me but keep them constructive please.

Nice job with the concepts, they're looking great!
Just try to make a script for comments or something during the video. I got bored and irritated with the guys saying "ahmmm", "ermmm...", "mmmm... okay." every 5 seconds. Be a little more eloquent please when explaining something. I fast forwarded the video just to see the art, since I couldnt stand the talking!

Great concept art but I would like to see less "Concepts" and more in game product work. But I'm picky

Please be patient. We're working hard and we'll show game product when the time is right. Most developers don't even release "concepts" until they are 50 to 75 percent done with the game, if at all, let alone in game production work.

I appreciate that some people would like more important info and less "ums". Trust me, no one is more annoyed to hear my awkward pauses and meandering thoughts then I am. Believe me, we are capable of pure eloquence on occasion, as well as complete unintelligible nonsense. However, the more time we spend prepping these podcasts, editing them, and rerecording sections the less time we have to actually make the game. These are meant to be a casual, informal, and fast way of getting some, hopefully, interesting information out to you guys.

In the end, I demand more quality over quantity. Keep the info flowing, but not at the expense of more important things or in watered down form. We want substantial things, and feeding loose items doesn't help.

Or, if you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all. =]

You are all doing a great job. I know there is a lot of constructive criticism going on, but when people are so excited for a game they have nothing better to do then view their opinions. Of course as i am doing now. I just think everyone should be more patient, developing a great quality game takes time, after all The Great Wall of China wasn't built in a day.
We shouldn't complain on small things like quality of video casts or who says more 'hrrms' and 'urrms' then others, we should be more concentrated on how the games final product will be, so remember guys be patient I'm positive the developers are doing their best to get the game done as best they can.

    Matt.

Um, myself? Not sure how else to respond to that...

It wasn't meant to be critical or pretentious. Sorry if that's how it came out on the screen. I'm just commenting that one good pod/video cast is worth more than two weaker ones. I'm someone who can wait for good news and doesn't need a weekly reminder that the dev team is working. I'm sure they are working, quite hard as a matter of fact, and oozing great ideas. I just don't believe they need to feed us needy consumers with tidbits just because we demand it. Don't give little teasers or fillers, give substance. And most of all, don't feel obligated to put out half-baked content just because the consumer demands it on a schedule. You should feel proud of what you put out, and sending something to the presses then putting out a revision or patch the next week is something I don't want and avoid even in my own work.

    At least that's my preference.

On another front, here's a question that could be dealt with in a future cast: who is your target audience? High schoolers? College? Young adults with disposable income?

I imagine you're trying to hit as many genres of players as possible, thus giving rise to the easily accessible mentality. In tension with that idea is depth of skill, i.e. a learning curve that is enjoyable to progress along for quite some time. Another element in similar tension is FPS and RTS, two different genres cooperating in a single game, neither side being infringed upon.

The point is, there is a perfect "balance" of these kinds of elements, but where is it? I believe that depends on the primary audience. Younger High Schoolers may want more fraggin' FPS with lots of depth so they can train up and pwn, but the late twenties crowd may want a more strategic element, but something that doesn't take them hours to pick up since they've got other concerns as well.

So, where do you think the ideal target is? Feel free to say target everyone, even grandma, just be prepared then for a game that's very shallow and lots of sparkly lights like Bejeweled or Peggle. Those suckers get played by everyone, and make substantial loads of cash.

srsly... stop digging, they put what they want in their casts.
    I don't ever remember it being a Q&A session, they post what they WANT to show/tell the community, be respectful and appreciative <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

I will stop digging when I reach the core of the Earth and release it's awesome power upon the Earth.

But seriously, I see no reason to not ask questions. They obviously have every right to ignore me. They also have every right to ignore all of us. However, I find it a legitimate question and wouldn't mind if they answered it. I'm not going to spam their mailboxes demanding they do of course, but one purpose of these forums is to provide input to the devs so they can get in our heads and peruse the random ideas we have. Then, if they so deem them worthy, perhaps address or even implement our ideas.

So if I have a question, I'll posit it to them. They then have a choice to address it or ignore it, and more likely than not either decision isn't going to dissuade me from following their progress and purchasing a copy of NS2 when it comes to fruition.
