i get random crashings while playing ns.
at the moment i use an old graphic card driver which i can manipulate with the tool GAMMA PANEL,
which i use to get some more brightness ^^. But that one worked before really good.
the symptoms are:
Black screen
Total Freeze
3-second sound loop
only rebootable with turning power off

But honestly I expect it is one of these:
Overheating.
bad drivers.
something else interfering.
The only real solution to stuff like this is to just poke at all the different possible problems.
Also, check to see if other Steam/HL1/other games are having problems.
