Quite simply an awesome movie.

Thirded, if only I had time to go and see it a second time. So this is what being a grown-up is like.

Fourth'd'd. Unless one is slipping my mind, this is the best superhero movie ever. Beats the pants off of Batman Begins, at least. And don't even start with Spiderman.

It may have had cooler effects, but I don't really think it was better than Batman.

    Spiderman is in last though.

Seconded. Batman Begins is the "better" movie, but I've never really considered Batman a superhero in the strictest sense, so I'd say Iron Man is the best superhero movie so far.

Except for the lack of Patrick Stewart, which is a bad sign for any movie.

Why is Iron Man a superhero and not Batman? Both of them are just using technology to get the upper hand on baddies.

I don't know enough about Batman to say how intelligent he is or anything, but I suppose Iron Man does have a bit of "super intelligence" if he can make some sweet mecha in a cave using just rocket parts.

And that's just about its only flaw. X-Men, on the other hand, had plenty of problems.

I'd have to say Batman Begins is a better film, but I'm sure my DC-comicbook-reading friends would disagree with me on many counts.

Plus he has a utility belt! If that doesn't spell super hero!

Iron Man might stay true to the comics more, I don't really know about that. Maybe that is why some think Iron Man is better.
I definitely think Batman Begins was a better film, though I think it is more a reinterpretation of batman rather than a movie port of the comic.

My point is that both batman and ironman do not have super powers. Batman's suit (in Batman Begins) isn't as cool as Iron Man's suit (in the movie), but they are both just high tech suits. Is there a reason one is a super hero and the other is not? Or are neither of them really super heroes?

Patrick Stewart has never learned how to program a VCR because he has never had to. He just says "make it so" and the VCR complies.

Iron Man and Batman are simply different types of characters. You could call them different types of Super Heroes, or different types of Heroes, or just different types of characters.

Iron Man is a super Hero, true, he has no powers (aside from intellect), but the bad guys he goes against are almost always super powered, either via 'natural' (magic, mutation, whatever), or 'scientific' (giant fsking robots) methods. He also (once in the suit) has super powers (flight, strength, speed, vision, hearing, etc etc etc).

Batman on the other hand goes up against 'normal' people (they are just insane), and uses 'normal' devices himself. He can't fly with out a plane, he can't stop a bullet to the face (though he can stop one to the chest depending on version), etc etc.

Both Stark and Wayne are honestly fairly similar characters, millionaire playboys, head of tech companies, build and design their own toys, etc etc. The differences come in the feel of the characters.

Probably the biggest thing is that Batman came out of the old Detective Comics, that was much more like the old pulps (could you imagine calling Richard Tracy a super hero?

I think I am going to go play some CoH.

Batman Begins is pretty heavily inspired by some of the comics, it just depends what comics you're talking about. Mostly some of the one off specials etc....

But yeah, I don't consider Batman a superhero for pretty much the reasons Thansal posted. Ironman is always up against super robots, evil sorcerers etc... (hell he even has a suit of armour designed specifically to fight the Hulk).

Batman on the other hand, mostly fights insane / highly intelligent, but otherwise normal, people. The Joker is just really, really insane and smart, for example. He's been put up against superpowered villains before (and has fought Superman an annoying amount of times), but it's not really his "thing". He's a hero, sure, but I've always thought of him as more of an extremely well equiped vigilante than a superhero.

Ahh, but clearly an insane, murderous, genius clown prince of crime is a better archenemy than a descendant of Genghis Khan, a Mongolian emperor, and named after Manchurian Chinese official, with power from mystical rings that turned out to be artifacts from Dragon-like aliens' spaceship.
