<div class="IPBDescription">GT5: Prologue</div>Well for those who have it.
How do you like it?
I like the game, but it needs some more options imo.
Graphics are amazing with great control and as usual, nice and chill music. A house/lounge track or two as well. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" /> I can keep the music playing all day.
Dashboard cam owns, I race in that all the time and the tach/mph gauges work too!
Sadly only 60 cars and you start off with only 35k. There are no Used Car Showrooms in this game, maybe since everything is online, patches will be released for new and more features. I was really hoping to get to build up the car I actually drive in real life and that is my Nissan 240sx (s14). At least have a S15, sheesh.
Wish you could adjust the music playlist.
My biggest gripe atm is that you can't even customize the cars. By that I mean, power mods, turbo, lightweight, spoiler (though always lame) and rims. At least as far as I've played into it.
I'm currently giving it a 7 out of 10 (7/10). But anyways, I heard GT5:Prologue was actually a demo or something. Wouldn't surprise me, but it was I 40$ (usd) so not too bad I suppose.
Anyways, GTA4 copy is coming in soon. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" /> Followed by Age of Conan.

I'm a fan of cars and motorsports, so I just had to. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
Does Prologue offer anything different to the standard?
There are 71 cars and 6 tracks each with multiple configurations. I've played through the A, B and C classes and that unlocks quick tuning for cars which gives you plenty to play around with for the very difficult S-class races. The graphics are superb, the car handling is awesome. It really is a whole lot of fun and almost certainly worth the money. The tracks are really great. The suzuka configurations are really taxing and you can immediately feel if a car is up to the stress the long sequences of tight corners put on it. Take a muscle car on a suzuka track and expect to spend half your time in gravel, but load up the GTR and the track is a completely different experience.
This is the first driving game where I've switched to full analogue control. I've used analogue steering for a while now, but using the RHS stick for acceleration and breaking is essential in the game. You need to fine tune your revs going into and out of turns to keep your momentum up. I guess what makes this game so addictive is the incredible detail you can put into optimising your trajectory. The london circuit is superb for this.
The two major problems I have with the game are the online experience and the lack of car damage. Polyphony have stated that car damage is coming in an update to GT5P. But for now, it is just horridly implemented. When you play through A, B and C class it often makes sense to use another car to shield you around a corner rather than braking. A racing sim should severely punish you for making contact with another car or barrier. When you go online ( or in S-class ) the experience changes where they introduce extremely frustrating rev penalties for collisions. So the optimal route you mastered offline becomes bogus when you go online.
Also, for online mode, all you can do is random match make. Polyphony ignored the lobby features in the expectation that Home would provide all of these features, and now that home is slated for the Autumn, that means there will be 4-5 months of a poor online experience for this game.
I'd agree with Paranoia2MB 7/10 rating. If you want to have a laugh with a group of mates doing some split screen racing or tuning your Ferrari to try to get gold in a time trial then this game is the proverbial mutt's nuts. If you want a hardcore online racing sim, then look elsewhere.
I do enjoy driving games, and I rate this highly. Forza is better, but I do think polyphony have serious potential to make GT5P something special if they can sort out the pressing issues.
I've never really gotten in to hardcore racing games. The last racing game (other than various mario karts) I played was the first street-racing-based NFS game. Can't remember what it was called.
It was good, mindless entertainment. I'm no car nut so I wasn't able to relieve myself when configuring gearbox ratios and... injector... squirtyness, so that facet is lost on me. I'm half-considering picking up one of the newer racing games and trying it out.

have you tried the new trackmania nations? It's free and it is pretty good.
Nothing comes close to wipeout in my books. Has consistently been the best racing game on any platform for over a decade. I can't wait for Wipeout HD in June [Disclaimer: This is a Sony June, which means sometime in December]

My fav sci-fi racing game of -ALL- time
What rock have you crawled out from under?
<a href="http://wipeouthd.com/" target="_blank">http://wipeouthd.com/</a>
1up.com have a really good preview of it. There are lots and lots of gameplay videos of it circulating, as it has been released to the press for a few weeks now.
PSN download only.
edit: there's a 1080p trailer on the ps store. I've probably watched it more than is healthy. The kraftwerk track just rocks.
this was originally supposed to be a sort of port of a hybrid pure/pulse from the PSP to the PS3, but they've really outdone themselves. The selections of tracks is top notch, with classics from the entire franchise making an appearance.
My only pure reason what I got my Ps3 is for the hopes of another Wipeout and it happens!
WIN!
Whenever this game comes out, I'm calling out for a week from work haha.
