<div class="IPBDescription">A Bump off of another Idea; Read befor you comment</div>The whole idea with this is for clarity, for info or incite into a battle. First and foremost I would like to state that this isn't a newbie (New Players) or Pub-God(Expert Players) Server Exclusive thread. This Is a bump of a previous idea that from what i got out of it would like to separate, or put them all on a Tier system. Which im completely against; it just would not be fun playing like that all the time, what if at some point in time at a certain tier level there are few players there. That would completely destroy the interest with waiting for players to bone up on some skill.

My idea is in-fact just a notification system, one that would show players who they are facing. My argument with this idea is that it is more helpful than hurtful to the game itself. How players are scored could be their total score, or it might just show that they play allot, or that they are skilled. Regardless it will show it defiantly would tell you if the player being looked at is experienced being a alien, or marine, or neither.

Points should be earned for each kill in each form or weapon with the most pro-dominant form showing their specialty. For instance, when on aliens if a player Is really good at playing as a Onos then he would have a Onos tag (next to his name?); a Marine player would sport a Jet-pack or Heavy-armor symbol along with a favored weapon. which yes, it is complicated in the idea but when you get started it should be quite simple.

There are of-course going to be accuracy issues but when going into a game with a team as a commander it would be slightly helpful showing what to give a player other than randomly piling objects thinking that they will all pwn (be good) with this weapon, or armor. Which goes the same for the alien commander (queen?) idea that is most likely going to hit. It would be helpfull mostly towards the leader of each team and maby even players who would know what role to fill up if they need too.

<!--sizeo:4--><span style="font-size:14pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->Differentiation ideas are as such<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec-->

-<b>Text Colors</b>; Which will have to be vibrant enough to show though the background in any circomstance to not cause the player to have to strain his eyes to view it. Could be a great indicator to show experience and maby even cause players to work harder to get to a certain color. Like Brand new players start with a White text, while moderate players sport a Yellow text(?), and expert players will sport a cyan, or some mixture of blue in their text.

-<b>Image&Score-Chart Combination</b>; When you press Tab on NS1 you get information about score, kills, and deaths. Team-based or otherwise. You could show allot of information when pressing this including the level of the player by using Icons (example: <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tiny.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::onos::" border="0" alt="tiny.gif" /> or <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/pudgy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::gorge::" border="0" alt="pudgy.gif" /> ) that differentiate between Skill level, Play-time (possibly?), Favored/most-played side or form (alien or Marine), down to the most used weapon and kill rank.

<!--sizeo:4--><span style="font-size:14pt;line-height:100%"><!--/sizeo-->Problems?<!--sizec--></span><!--/sizec-->
<i>Will update when conflicts arise adding in everyones problem with a feasible solution.</i>

1.) how would it work if a player goes from marine to alien or vise-versa
Answer:On marines it would show marine scores only because only that set of information would be relevant, likewise for alien side.

<i>Please <b>Add in your constructive ideas</b> to <u>HELP</u> out the community, if you absolutely hate the idea please <b>state any apparent flaws that</b> you see</i>

    Yes, I kow it's a link. Whatever if you don't like it. They make some good points and have great ideas. Why wouldn't the first person to weld 1,000 points get a silver welder? Why not give the guy to reach 999 pistol kills a golden gun? I know those are just inviting people to start servers and sit there building by themselves. The servers they would be alowed on to get these special points would have 0 bots allowed until all these were earned, so you could only do this in a real game or whatever, but you get my point.

    First commander to win 199 matches gets signed NS2 artwork from the devs. The first gorge to get 100 OC kills gets a plushie gorge... What you guys think? And these are just the awards. Their names could have special insignias next to them in ALL game server browsers, like a silver welder, an OC or something.

    The effect would be even worse than on those old /skill stats servers. Rounds took 30 mins to finish because people were sitting down with lerks and spiking and sporing for frags.

    <i>Harimau</i> why do you have to go and flame me because i don't have college level grammar? Its the internet lay off. Yes i might have used a "few" words in the inappropriate area but my point still gets through, please don't post again on my topic unless you can add something <b>constructive</b>...

    As for the rewards factor, It is a do-able idea but likewise I don't think Unknown worlds would do that. I like the idea and I think it would reap a benifit for them but otherwise i think the best reward is to show off unique skill level icons Ect. It would give "Some" people something to work for in the future

    Referring to the rewards like a gorge plushie are very good but only the first person to reach a certain point gets it? if thats what you mean, its really unfair (unless i get one <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/nerd-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::nerdy::" border="0" alt="nerd-fix.gif" /> ).

    Going off in another direction:
    i hope to see a gorge plushie on sale along with NS2, maby in a combo deal NS2 and a gorge plushie?

    Why?
    You ask me why?
    Well.. I can say I most <b>definitely</b> only wish to provide a little <b>insight</b> into some of the nuances of the English language; and that despite how it may appear I am not <b>defiantly</b> trying to <b>incite</b> any members of this forum to anger.

    - No, I wasn't flaming you. I was simply showing you which words were the correct ones to use, and what the words you used actually meant. For future reference. I <b>was</b> being constructive. I was <i>helping</i> you.

    And here's a fun fact: I haven't yet entered college or university.

    Also, I've already given my opinion on the OP's idea in the Parent thread. Why must I repeat it just because you choose to break off that thread and create a new one? And just in case you ignored that post as well, then for your information, the answer was a Yes. Visual indicators for ranks and specialisations are a good idea.

    Well either way i dont need to be corrected by you and have my post derailed, if i made a mistake let me make it. Why must you insult me? I'm a Nuance to the English language? your a nuance to the internet, just stop posting back at me.

    Oh of course its the internet! you get points for correcting people <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

    oh and if u like fun facts here is one for you

    I don't know.
    I don't need to know.
    I don't care to know.

    Interesting, it's a spelling bee! Or is it, "bea"? Maybe it's bee-e? ANyways, so yeah I see what your saying Bacilus, but don't lerks spore and spike anyways? I mean, isn't that part of their arsenal? I can see what you are saying as far as people doing it to earn points vs playing the game, but you'll have that no matter what you do! You think I wouldn't go OC crazy trying to be the first to get a little gorgie? This is just a suggestion for a fun way to promote the game, even if it's just a smaller part of a bigger idea on ranking and promoting people.

    And if it's the camping you are scared of, then why not make it more random, like drawings or something? Maybe spray/tag contests with voting? *shrug* Im not the best idea guy but the devs could get involved too. Maybe during a certain week, they will log onto a server on a certani list of servers and watch a certain game, then whomever gets the most kills during thatganme will win?

    Damn you interwebs.

    Anyways, some sort of notification would be a little nice. I don't like the idea of superior firepower/unlocks from experience unless they are easy to obtain and grant diversity, not overpowering awesomeness (CoD4 did this beautifully with their unlock system).

    MY guess is you're looking at building a stat system similar to what's in TF2, which personally I find awesome, then tacking on special notifications about their relative skill based on those stats. The tough part, as you mentioned, is making a unified single statistic that is the aggregate of all these stats that you collect. Similar to the achievement system also currently being discussed, how many points do we award for what?

    Since that is extremely hard, I'd have to say let the community set this one up instead of burdening the devs with it. I like the idea, I just feel it might be a little cumbersome for the devs at this point.
